It was an eventful day for several thousands of students at the Manila Campus of Far Eastern University as they took part in the first leg of Listen Campus Tour, a concert tour series that aims to drive positive social change and foster greater awareness on the growing social concerns through music and dialogue.

Listen Campus Tour kicked off last August 30, during the Tatak Tamaraw 2019, an annual event that welcomes freshmen to the FEU community.

For this concert series, Listen Campus Tour identified mental wellness as a topic that is very much relevant to the times.  It helped brought to light the discussion of mental wellness by gathering students and artists together in a creative exchange of music and dialogue.

Popular bands like Callalily, Syd Hartha, Nathan & Mercury, Hulyo, Arthur Nery, Dionela and Fern took the centerstage and contributed their presence to the advocacy.

Organizational partners Department of Health (DOH) and Philippine Mental Health Association (PMHA) imparted messages on the said issue that is prevalent among the youth. DOH discussed the recently approved Mental Health Law and how it would provide affordable and accessible mental health services for the youth. On the other hand, the PMHA prepared a short video presentation that tackled the programs they offer to the youth in need of support.

The event gave Tamaraws an opportunity to become part of relevant discussions on mental wellness and get valuable insights from the organizational partners.

Despite the imminent weather, Tamaraws enjoyed a modern music experience from the very first drum beat of Hulyo to the last strum of the guitar by Callalily. Aside from the Listen Campus Tour, plans are also in the pipeline for the Listen Campus Workshop with select artists mentoring students in universities on how to use music to heal and express themselves, and Listen Campus Online, a 5-10-minute crash course on music reaching out to the general public.

It was not just the attendance of the students that made the event a success; it was also that they were there to really listen and enjoy the music.
