First-Ever Philippine International Flower Festival to Bloom in September

A flower festival is a vibrant celebration that revolves around the beauty and diversity of flowers. It’s a colorful spectacle that often highlights a region’s floral heritage or coincides with a specific blooming season.

Some of the most notable flower festivals in the world include the Pasadena Rose Parade in North America, Bloemencorso in the Netherlands, Cherry Blossom Festival in Japan, and the Chiang Mai Flower Festival in Thailand.

While each festival is unique and features different varieties of flowers and flowering plants, the program would usually include a floral display that showcases the artistry of both florists and gardeners, a competition and at times an extravagant parade. A growing number of recent events now also includes a fashion show that marries intricate real floral designs with haute couture.

Launched last July 17 at the SPACE at One Ayala, Bountiful Blooms, the first-ever Philippine International Flower Festival (PHILIFF) scheduled on September 19-22, is a one-stop-shop-to-go event for all flower and fashion enthusiasts.

PHILIIFF will put the spotlight on floral designing, garden landscaping, a trade show, exhibits on Ikebana, Bonsai, and Orchids, as well as a floral fashion show – curated by Mr. Jerry Sibal with invited international artists. The festival presents a unique opportunity for Filipino horticulturists and florists to network, sustain, and expand their territories and economy.

The visionary producer of the upcoming event, Jerry Sibal, is a Filipino, Chinese, and American based in New York City. He authored the coffee table book, “An Event to Remember“, published by Stewart Tabori & Chang, an imprint of Abrams Books.

Sibal, known for creating magical settings, spectacular and lavish weddings, corporate events, and charity balls, has envisioned PHILIFF as a gateway to cultivating, celebrating, and promoting the Philippines as a major producer of flowers in the region, next to Thailand, Taiwan, and Vietnam.
