The Miss World Philippines Organization together with the GMA Artist Center organized a formal sendoff press conference for Miss World Philippines 2019 Michelle Dee held at Nanka Japanese Steakhouse in Mo. Ignacia, Quezon City.
Dee is set to leave for London on November 19 accompanied by her family, handlers from Miss World Philippines and GMA Artist Center, as well as some of her friends and her training team.
Ensuring Michelle’s winning looks for the International pageant are some of the Philippines’ top stylemeisters which includes Francis Libiran who will design her final gown and national costume.
For the pre-pageant, Dee will be styled by other big names in the industries such as Renee Salud, Nono Palmos, Chris Nick, Jojo Bragais, and many more.
During the PressCon, Dee discloses her rigorous training schedule and her primary motivation for joining the pageant.
“I believe that pageantry has really changed through time. It’s no more about just looking for the prettiest or smartest among the group, but about finding a woman who has the most to offer not only to the country but to the whole world. A voice that’s heard and listened to,” Dee explained.
Joining Dee during the sendoff press conference are GMA Artist Center AVP Simoun Ferrer, ALV Talent Circuit Head Arnold Vegafria, celebrity friends, Michelle’s brother and her fellow Miss World beauty queens who expressed their well-wishes. The program was hosted by beauty queen and Kapuso artist Thia Thomalla.
Despite being touted as one of the early favorites, Michelle believes that she still needs to step up her social media performance.
“We have the Multimedia Fast Track Challenge where online voting comes in. The Philippines needs to step up in terms of voting through mobstar to ensure a win,” Dee reveals.
The game has really changed so to speak but Miss World’s “Beauty With a Purpose” has never been more relevant.
While many pageant titlists spend most of their reigns living the high life in picture-perfect glitz and glam, Michelle aims to take a higher road defined by positivity and purposeful action.
The model-actress plans to make giant steps in advancing her autism advocacy.
Michelle explains, “My focus is on autism awareness and the work I’ve been doing with Autism Society Philippines. We’ve been working together closely in making the Philippines an ‘autism-OK’ nation through various activities that highlights inclusivity, activities that give individuals on the spectrum a sense of purpose, and are also in communication with major brands and establishments that will be working together with for a very special campaign.”
Miss World Philippines National Director Arnold Vegafria is confident that Michelle will be a clear standout among this year’s contenders.
Apart from the pageant, Vegafria also stressed on the generosity of Miss World as one of the busiest and most effective charity-centered organization highlighting on some of the beneficiaries here in the Philippines such as the Philippine General Hospital among many others.
The Miss World 2019 Pageant will be telecast live via satellite on December 14 (Saturday), 10pm exclusively on GMA.
The sendoff program was co-sponsored by Goju, Bluewater Day Spa, M&Ms and Doublemint.
