SHABURI AND KINTAN BUFFET opened its first restaurant branch in the now expanding Japan Town at the Top of the Glo in Glorietta 2 Makati City.

Well first off, THERE IS a Japan Town in Glorietta! 🙂 Top of the Glo is like a secret al fresco hideout at the 4th level of Glorietta next to the Ayala Cinemas and Timezone.

The second thing you need to know is that the Shaburi and Kintan Buffet restaurant is brought to us by Tomoyoshi Nishiyama, the founder of the world’s number 1 Yakiniku restaurant. He is also the Chairman of Dining Innovations Ltd. who also introduced shabu-shabu, udon, and yakitori in over 200 restaurants in different countries.

For Shaburi and Kintan Buffet, Chairman Nishiyama partnered with Universal Alliance Dining Concepts, Inc.’s President Hubert Young, the entrepreneur behind many of the successful Japanese dining brands in the Philippines such as the UCC Chain of Food and Coffee Concepts, Coco Ichibanya, Mitsuyado House of Tsukemen, Mitsuyado Ramen Shokudo, and Tendon Kohaku, among others.

Both Young and Nishiyama were present during the official inauguration of the restaurant last Tuesday together with Universal Alliance’s Masahide Araki, Luis Manuel Banson, Atty. Severino Sumulong, and Dining Innovation’s Eiji kamada and Schinichiro Matsufuji.

Shaburi and Kintan Buffet is my kind of Japanese restaurant! While sushi has become one of the most popular Japanese dishes in the world, this restaurant seeks to introduce two more ways of enjoying Japanese cuisine.

Shaburi Kintan is a casual dining concept that encourages customers to satisfy their craving for authentic Japanese dishes in shabu-shabu, yakiniku, and buffet settings.

Have it your way! Choose to experience the Shabu-Shabu buffet only or Yakiniku buffet only or both! For the Kintan Buffet, there are four options: the Regular Buffet, Kintan Buffet, Premium Kintan Buffet, and Special Wagyu Buffet.

You can then choose your type of rice and the meats you want. The best thing about grilling the meat in the Kintan setting is the Japanese technology that makes the smoke “magically dissipate”.

For the Shabu-Shabu Buffet, there are the Regular Shabu, Special Shabu, Shaburi Wagyu, or Special Wagyu. What makes the shabu-shabu option different in the restaurant is that each customer gets his or her own pot of preferred soup or soups.

Meat choices for both the kintan and shabu-shabu include premium chicken, pork, and beef cuts.

Here are the current buffet price lists:

Apart from the Philippines, Shaburi and Kintan restaurants can be found in Indonesia, Taiwan, Cambodia, Singapore, and the United Kingdom.
