From Manila to Munich: How EHEF 2025 Just Unlocked Global Futures for Filipino Students

EHEF

If you walked through Robinsons Manila last November 21 and 22, you likely felt a shift in the atmosphereโ€”a buzz of ambition, curiosity, and the distinct excitement that comes from planning a life-changing adventure.

That energy was the European Higher Education Fair (EHEF) 2025, the European Unionโ€™s flagship event in the Philippines. For years, EHEF has been the bridge between Filipino talent and European academic excellence. But this year? This year felt like a true milestone.

With the theme โ€œPathways to Excellence,โ€ the event wasn’t just about brochures and flyers; it was a declaration that the doors to the EUโ€™s top learning and research institutions are wide open for Filipinos.

A Symbolic Start

The event kicked off with a moment that perfectly captured the spirit of the fair. In a gesture symbolizing unity, EU Ambassador H.E. Massimo Santoro joined representatives from various EU Member States on stage. Together, they collectively formed an image representing the fairโ€™s themeโ€”a visual promise of the diverse expertise and collaborative future awaiting Filipino students.

“We are pleased to open the EHEF 2025 here in Manila. EHEF offers Filipino students and researchers a unique opportunity to explore new pathways to excellence while deepening the enduring partnership between the European Union and the Philippines.”

A World of Options (Literally)

Whether attendees were looking for undergraduate degrees, masterโ€™s programs, or PhD research grants, the options were staggering. The fair featured 99 exhibitors (both onsite and online) representing 15 EU Member States, including:

  • Austria, Belgium, The Czech Republic, and Finland
  • France, Germany, Hungary, and Ireland
  • Italy, Latvia, The Netherlands, and Romania
  • Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden

This year also saw the introduction of two game-changing sessions: Copernicus and EURAXESS. These additions highlighted the EU not just as a place to study, but as a global hub for high-level research and scientific innovation.

It Takes a Village (of Academics)

The success of EHEF 2025 was a massive collaborative effort, proving that the academic bond between the Philippines and the EU is stronger than ever.

Supported by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), the event was anchored by major regional hubs including the University of Santo Tomas (Metro Manila), University of the Cordilleras (Luzon), Eastern Visayas State University (Visayas), and Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan (Mindanao).

The event also boasted an impressive roster of university partners ranging from De La Salle University and Ateneo de Davao to the University of the Philippines Manila and Polytechnic University of the Philippines, ensuring that students from every corner of the archipelago had representation.

A Hybrid Experience

Understanding that “access” means reaching everyone, everywhere, EHEF 2025 didn’t stop at the physical venue. Following the two-day onsite event, the fair went digital on November 24 via Zoom, ensuring that those unable to make it to Manila could still connect with admissions officers and academic advisors halfway across the world.

What Comes Next?

If you missed the festivities, don’t worry. The “Pathways to Excellence” remain open. The relationships forged between the participating professional organizationsโ€”like the National Academy of Science and Technologyโ€“Philippines and the United Architects of the Philippinesโ€”and their European counterparts are just beginning.

With the help of media partners and the PR expertise of COMCO Southeast Asia-Pilipinas, the message is clear: Europe is calling, and Filipino students are ready to answer.
