DHL Express opened its new Manila Gateway in Parañaque City to expedite time-sensitive shipments and strengthen the Philippines’ global trade links.

The new gateway represents a EUR9 million investment by DHL Express to boost its ground network in the country. With a more modern footprint than the previous site, the new Manila Gateway is engineered for high-volume efficiency, capable of processing up to 2,400 parcels per hour for imports and 2,000 parcels per hour for exports. This capacity ensures DHL can provide service excellence even during peak seasons.

The facility features 100% LED lighting and energy-efficient material handling systems, aligning with DHL Express’ global sustainability goals. As a critical hub, it handles over 90% of the country’s shipping volume, providing vital support to major industries, including automotive, energy, and engineering & manufacturing.

“The Philippines is one of the 20 markets which we are focusing on as they present high potential for growth,” said Nigel Lockett, Managing Director of DHL Express Philippines. “The new Manila Gateway shows our commitment to the market. With speed and enhanced infrastructure, we are well placed to help connect Philippine businesses to the rest of the world.”

DHL Express’s investment in the new Manila Gateway reflects the continued resilience of international trade highlighted in the DHL Global Connectedness Report 2026, even amid ongoing geopolitical and economic uncertainty. Within this environment, the Philippines continues to play an active role in global trade flows.

The report shows that the Philippines ranks 59th out of 180 economies globally and performs particularly strongly in the breadth of its international connections, ranking 27th worldwide. This demonstrates engagement with a wide and diversified set of trading partners. The country’s international flows are led by key markets such as the United States, China, and Japan, alongside strong links across Asia‑Pacific. By enhancing capacity and processing speed at the gateway facility, where majority of the country’s international shipments are handled, DHL Express is also strengthening the Philippines’ ability to support export‑driven industries, cross‑border e‑commerce, and local businesses competing in global markets.
