From Stat-Check to Squad-Wipe: Shyvana’s New Kit is the Glow-Up of the Decade

Shyvana

If you’ve been feeling like the League of Legends ranked climb has been a literal uphill battle in the mud, Riot Games just threw you a lifeline. In the latest Dev Update, heavy hitters Paul “Pabro” Bellezza, Andrei “Meddler” Van Roon, and Ed “Riot Memurr” Zhao sat down to reveal some massive structural shifts coming to the Rift—and one legendary dragon is getting the glow-up of a lifetime.

Whether you’re a hardcore climber or an ARAM enthusiast, here is everything you need to know about the future of Season 1 and beyond.

1. The Great Ranked Migration: Moving Out of Iron

Riot is making it clear: Iron is for beginners, not a forever home. The team has officially tweaked the MMR distribution to stop veteran players from getting trapped in the bottom tier.

  • The Iron Exit: Changes are live to pull experienced players out of Iron and into Bronze.
  • The Diamond Shift: Riot realized the skill gap between Diamond IV and Diamond I was as massive as the gap between Bronze and Silver. To fix this, high-end Diamond has been absorbed into Master tier.
  • The Apex Climb: Because Master is now wider, the LP requirements for Grandmaster and Challenger are going up. Getting to the top just got more prestigious.

2. Shyvana Reforged: The Dragon Queen Returns

Mark your calendars for Patch 26.6. After years of community polls, Shyvana is finally getting her full VGU (Visual and Gameplay Update). Riot worked directly with Shyvana mains to ensure she still feels like the half-dragon we love, just… much more terrifying.

The “Leg Day” Bundle: Along with her sleek new model and lore, Riot is dropping an exclusive “Leg Day Bundle” for a limited time. If you’ve been waiting to flex on your enemies with a modernized dragon form, this is your moment.

The New Kit at a Glance:

  • Passive (Scalemail): Earn stacks from takedowns to beef up your defenses.
  • Q (Emberstrike): An AoE strike that gets a second recast in Dragon Form for massive single-target execute damage.
  • W (Inferno Aegis): A shield and speed boost that detonates. In Dragon Form, that explosion now heals you.
  • E (Molten Burst): A fireball that slows. In Dragon Form, it leaves a trail of fire in its wake.
  • R (Dragon’s Descent): The classic leap now fears enemies in your path.

3. Gaming Experience: Less Waiting, More Playing

Tired of sitting in queue for 10 minutes only for someone to dodge? Riot’s recent backend changes have been a massive success:

  • Time-to-Game: Down by 30%.
  • Lobby Dodges: Crashed from a staggering 19% down to just 4%.

The team is also keeping a close eye on the “Faelights” mechanic and the current power levels of Top lane and ADC to ensure the meta doesn’t get stale.

4. ARAM: Mayhem is Here to Stay

If you’ve been loving the chaotic energy of ARAM: Mayhem, we have good news: It’s not going anywhere. Due to “overwhelmingly positive” feedback, Riot is extending the mode indefinitely and will continue to drop balance updates and new content specifically for it.

5. Looking Ahead: The Season 2 Tease

While there won’t be a new champion for the remainder of Season 1, the devs confirmed a new champion is coming in Season 2. The kicker? They will bridge the thematic gap between both seasons, tying the story together in a way we haven’t seen before.

The Verdict: Between the ranked ladder overhaul and the return of iconic items like Hextech Gunblade and Stormrazor, League is leaning heavily into player satisfaction and nostalgia. Riot is even asking you what items should come back next—so make your voice heard.
