Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna (Mapúa MCL) recently celebrated its 20th founding anniversary on January 23–24 and 26–31, 2026, with the theme “20 Years of Making Milestones, Changing Lives,” marking two decades of molding students into professionals rooted in excellence and virtue.

Led by Prof. Khristian G. Kikuchi, Dean of Mapúa MCL’s College of Computer Science and Information Science (CCIS) as event chair, and Dr. Joy G. Hofileña, Interim Dean of Mapúa MCL’s College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) and Director of the Center for Service-Learning and Community Engagement (CSCE) as co-chair, the celebration was filled with various activities and exciting games that made the week more memorable for the community. Events such as the Org Olympics, Palarong Mapúa Malayan, Cosplay Saga, Street Dance Competition, Line Flying, Wizards Cup, Esports, Malayan Got Talent, and Battle of the Bands ignited the enthusiasm of the Mapúa Malayans while mind-stimulating competitions such as Mind Maze Science C Math, Brainmasters, and Family Feud also challenged students throughout the celebration. One of the most-awaited events in the institution’s 20th Foundation Week was the Mapúa MCL Music Fest, featuring stellar performances from local artists such as Earl Agustin, HEY JUNE!, Dana Paulene, and DJ Cupcakes.

Recognizing the continued efforts and achievements of students, alumni, and employees was also a significant part of the week. This was highlighted through the President’s List Awarding; the Milestones in Motion, Continuing Legacy: Alumni Sportsfest; the PTC-ACBET Tier 1 Recognition Awarding; the Faculty Research Colloquium; the Employees’ Awards Night; and 20 Years, One Heart: Honoring the Service of Our Everyday Heroes, a donation drive and pop-up market initiative for Mapúa MCL’s support staff.

Mapúa MCL was also able to support our partner communities in Barangay Dapdap East, Tagaytay City, Cavite through 20 Years, 2000 Stories, a community initiative headed by CSCE that established a brand-new community library with 2,000+ books.

The celebratory week also highlighted the various student organizations in Mapúa MCL, where they opened booths and activities throughout the campus to have fun with the students while also helping spread the word about their community and invite others to join. Organizations that participated include The Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna Information Technology Society (ITSOC) with an Escape Room, League of Offline Tabletop with Board Games, Mapua Dance Crew (MDC) with Dance Workshops, MALAYA MMCL (MALAYA) with a Film Showing, and Talented Union for growing Musicians and Artists (TUGMA) with an Open Mic.

The annual Mr. C Ms. Mapúa MCL took an exciting turn this year with the introduction of the Mr. C Ms. Mapúa MCL Employee Edition, showcasing the confidence and brains of the entire Mapúa MCL community. The event saw the coronation of Herzon Ralph Bolido from the Mapúa Institute of Technology at Laguna (MITL) and Glydelle Erica Azogue from Mapúa MCL Senior High School (Mapúa MCL-SHS) as the newest Mr. C Ms. Mapúa MCL, respectively while the Mr. C Ms. Mapúa MCL Employee Edition saw Mr. John Rencel B. “Anniversaries are not end points. We will not stop here; these are renewed commitments, and therefore we need to keep moving because what changed lives the past decades will not be enough for the next,” said Dr. Dodjie S. Maestrecampo, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Mapúa Education Group during the opening ceremony of Mapúa MCL’s 20th Foundation Week.

The festivities for the institution’s 20th founding anniversary celebrate not only its two decades of existence, but also the achievements of the community that paved the way to the brand of excellence and virtue that the Mapúa MCL name now stands for.
