Presented by the MSO Foundation and Standard Insurance, in partnership with EastWest Bank, this special concert promises to be a majestic journey through Russian Romanticism.

The Program: A Tchaikovsky Triple Treat

- The Coronation March: The night will begin with the Festival Coronation March, a piece Tchaikovsky composed for Tsar Alexander III’s coronation. Brimming with brass fanfares and festive rhythms, this majestic work perfectly sets the tone for a grand evening.
- Rococo Variations for Cello: The concert’s heart will be the Variations on a Rococo Theme, a masterpiece that pays homage to Mozart’s classical elegance. This piece is a true test of a cellist’s skill, blending soaring melodies with intricate passages.
- Sleeping Beauty Dance Suite: The night will conclude with a suite from the ballet Sleeping Beauty. As a permanent guest conductor of the Saint Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra “Klassika,” his presence guarantees an authentic and masterful interpretation of Tchaikovsky’s work.
- Damodar Das Castillo, Cello Prodigy: A true talent to watch, young Filipino cellist Damodar Das Castillo will be the soloist for the Rococo Variations. As a scholar of the MSJO–Standard Insurance International Scholarship Program, he has already gained international recognition, winning top prizes in five international competitions. This is a rare opportunity to witness one of the most promising young musicians of his generation.
