In a heartwarming move to support small-scale women entrepreneurs, Hanabishi Appliances recently launched its new corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, Kapartner sa Kabuhayan. The initiative’s first project provided livelihood starter kits to 10 hardworking “nanaypreneurs” (women who manage small eateries, or karinderya) and two dedicated health coordinators in their communities.
The donation, which took place on August 4, 2025, was a collaborative effort with the Kabuhayan sa Ganap na Kasarinlan Credit and Savings Cooperative (K-COOP) as part of their Project Karinderya.
“At Hanabishi, we believe in empowering mothers who not only serve as the light in their homes but the backbone of their communities as well,” said Cherish Ong-Chua, Hanabishi Appliances VP for Finance and Marketing. “By providing them with the appliances they need through our Kapartner sa Kabuhayan, we hope to enable their small businesses to grow and thrive and thereby support Filipino families in building sustainable livelihoods.”
A Kit for Success
The beneficiaries, identified through K-COOP, came from the communities of Camarin and Bagong Silang in Caloocan, and Lagro in Quezon City. Each recipient received a Hanabishi Karinderya Starter Kit, packed with essential appliances to help their businesses flourish. The kits included:
- A Hanabishi electric fan
- A gas stove or oven toaster
- A rice cooker or pressure cooker
- A water dispenser or hand mixer/blender
- A coffee maker or airpot
The support didn’t stop there. Hanabishi’s partners, SEAOIL and BiotechJP, joined in to make the donation even more impactful. SEAOIL contributed SEAGAS LPG tanks, while BiotechJP donated Ready-to-Eat Rice (Rice to GO).
Ong-Chua expressed gratitude for the collaboration, stating, “Having like-minded organizations with us allows us to provide more help to those in need.”
Looking Ahead
This pilot project is just the beginning for Kapartner sa Kabuhayan. Hanabishi is committed to building a stronger network of resilient and independent nanaypreneurs across the country. They are actively exploring further collaborations with K-COOP and planning more initiatives to benefit micro-entrepreneurs in different regions.
