Metro Manila Subway | List of Stations and Updates

The Philippines is building an interconnected railway network, encompassing the Metro Manila Subway, North-South Commuter Railway, and regional projects like the North Luzon and Mindanao Railways, to enhance connectivity, shorten travel times, and spur economic growth nationwide.

Metro Manila Subway (MMSP)

The Metro Manila Subway is an ambitious infrastructure project aimed at easing the severe traffic congestion in Metro Manila. It will be the Philippines’ first underground railway system, spanning 33 kilometers and connecting 17 stations across Valenzuela City, Quezon City, Pasig, Makati, Taguig, Parañaque, and Pasay. A spur line will also connect to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3, making it the country’s second direct airport rail link after the North-South Commuter Railway.

Here is a list of the planned stations:

  1. East Valenzuela: Located beside the northbound side of Mindanao Avenue near P. Dela Cruz Street in Valenzuela City.
  2. Quirino Highway: Situated at the corner of Mindanao Avenue and Quirino Highway in Quezon City.
  3. Tandang Sora: Along Mindanao Avenue, near the intersection with Tandang Sora Avenue in Quezon City.  
  4. North Avenue: Within the property of Veterans Memorial Medical Center (DND property), at the corner of Mindanao Avenue and North Avenue in Quezon City. This station will provide a direct connection to the existing MRT-3 and the Common Station, linking to LRT-1 and MRT-7.
  5. Quezon Avenue: At the corner of EDSA and Quezon Avenue, on the Manila Seedlings (NHA property) in Quezon City.
  6. East Avenue: Along V. Luna Street, near the intersections of East Avenue and Kalayaan Avenue in Quezon City.
  7. Anonas: On the property of LBL Prime, near the LRT-2 Anonas Station in Quezon City, providing an interchange with the elevated train line.
  8. Camp Aguinaldo: Within the property of Camp Aguinaldo, near the corner of Col. Boni Serrano Avenue (formerly Santolan Road) and Katipunan Avenue in Quezon City.  
  9. Ortigas: Within Metrowalk, near Meralco Avenue and Unimart (PCGG, Blemp property) in Pasig City. This station is also planned to connect to the future MRT-4.
  10. Shaw Boulevard: Along Meralco Avenue, in front of Estancia Mall (OCLP property) in Pasig City.  
  11. Kalayaan Avenue: Along the intersection of 11th Avenue and 38th Street in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.
  12. Bonifacio Global City (BGC): Along the rotunda, between Market! Market! and Serendra buildings in Taguig City.
  13. Lawton Avenue: Within the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA) property and Megaworld property in McKinley, Taguig City.
  14. Senate-DepEd: Within the Department of Education (DepEd) property near Chino Roces Road and the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) Nichols Station in Taguig City. This will allow for a connection to the NSCR.  
  15. NAIA Terminal 3: Located within the parking area of NAIA Terminal 3 in Pasay City, providing a direct rail link to the airport.  
  16. FTI/Arca South: Integrated with the NSCR FTI Station in Parañaque City, facilitating seamless transfers between the two railway systems.
  17. Bicutan: Will be a common station with the NSCR Extension in Parañaque City, further enhancing connectivity.

These stations are strategically located to serve key residential, commercial, and business areas, as well as transportation hubs, aiming to provide a modern and efficient commuting experience for the residents of Metro Manila and its neighboring cities.

The Metro Manila Subway is considered a crucial project to alleviate traffic congestion, boost the economy by reducing economic losses due to traffic, and provide a more efficient and reliable mode of transportation for the millions of commuters in Metro Manila. Future plans may include further expansion of the subway network to address the growing transportation needs of the metropolis.

LATEST UPDATE:

The Metro Manila Subway Project is currently more than 50% complete, with partial operations from Valenzuela to Ortigas expected by the end of 2029 and full operations by 2030-2031. The project has faced delays, particularly due to right-of-way issues and legal challenges.
