March 8 is regarded as International Women’s Day in celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women all over the world.

This March, we feature an extraordinary woman of influence – MARY ROSE MARBIL – the wife of current Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief General Rommel Marbil, and the national adviser and founder of the Philippine National Police Officers’ Ladies Club Foundation or the PNP OLC Foundation, Inc.

Married to a service man and hailing from a successful career in the corporate world, Mary Rose Marbil did not only fulfill her duties as wife, mother and the first lady of the Philippine National Police, but exceeded expectations by pioneering the institutionalization of the PNP Officers’ Ladies Club and its major programs particularly the Love and Blessing Virus or LAB Virus that aims to offer both emotional and financial aid to PNP personnel and their families facing health difficulties.

Recently, the foundation focused on the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), a region historically challenged by conflict and poverty. To date, they have visited 17 regional offices and assisted over 500 beneficiaries.

Aside from formalizing OLC’s role in the PNP as a foundation, Mary Rose has also prioritized projects that will help make its programs self-sustaining. She believed that with all these in place, passing the baton to whoever is next to lead the organization will be smooth and better equipped to make it grow even further.
