One Meralco Foundation (OMF), the social development arm of the Manila Electric Company (MERALCO), recently bagged four (4) Merit awards during the 19th Philippine Quill Awards for its Household Electrification Program, Meralco One for Trees Campaign, COVIDCOMMS 2021 Project and Stronger Together-The 2020 MVP Academic Achievement Awards Virtual Ceremony.

OMF also received a GOLD STEVIE at the 2022 Stevie International Business Awards (IBA) for its School Electrification Program which was also recognized as the Corporate Social Responsibility Program of the Year among nominations from Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.

One Meralco Foundation

In a recent interview, One Meralco Foundation President Jeffrey O. Tarayao said that the foundation is currently focused on its School Electrification Program which aims to energize public schools in remote or off-grid communities in the Philippines. Since 2011, more than 280 schools nationwide have been lit by OMF with solar power. Beneficiaries include schools from Calayan Island in Luzon to the farthest island of Tawi Tawi, Sitangkai Island, in Mindanao.

Tarayao who has been with OMF since 2011 also received a SILVER STEVIE under the Thought Leaders for Government or Non-profit Organizations category.

One Meralco Foundation’s School Electrification Program changes and improve both the learning and teaching experience. To sustain each projects, OMF has prepared and equipped local technicians and is working closely with the local government, DepED and the communities.

Aside from the School Electrification Program, One Meralco Foundation is also expanding on energizing rural health centers and livelihood facilities like the Angat Buhay Weaving Center for Yakan weavers in Lamitan City, Basilan.

OMF has received three more SILVER STEVIE and one BRONZE STEVIE this year.
