The realme 9 series line in the Philippines is now finally complete with the arrival of the brand’s midrange entry packed with flagship display and camera features.
Launched last June 14 via livestream on the realme FB page, the realme 9 is a win in both form and function. The 108MP ProLight Main Camera which uses a Samsung HM6 sensor really complements its trendy and sleek 7.99 Slim Body with Ripple Holographic design as well as its 6.4″ 90Hz Super AMOLED display.
I have already given you three awesome reasons why this newly released phone is worth your attention. Now let me walk you through on why this worth owning.
realme 9 comes in three colorways (with an attitude) – Meteor Black, Stargaze White and Sunburst Gold. While the Gold variant seems to be the most popular one in the market right now, I personally prefer the Stargaze White because the design which was inspired by the image of sand dunes in the desert that look like waves of gold when hit by the sun’s rays is more evident. Even when the protective casing that is included in the package turns the phone into gray, you can still see the golden sand dunes when light hits its body.

Key Non-Camera Features
Aside from its camera, realme 9 is loaded with key flagship features that are rare to find in midrange phones.
The newest from the realme number series is powered by a 6nm octa-core battery efficient Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 Processor which houses four Cortex-A73 cores that clock at up to 2.4GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores that clock up to 1.9GHz which basically means you can multi-task and switch between apps with ease and without consuming too much power. Another thing to note is that this processor has an Adreno 610 GPU so users can play heavy-duty games without worrying about draining your battery or experiencing lags. While this might not be enough for pro gamers, this phone however won’t disappoint casual gamers.
realme 9 uses the new realme UI 3.0 based on Android 12 with improved interface, security, and personalization features.
Complementing its processor is a large 5000mAh battery with 33W Dart Charge that can charge 0% to 100% in only 75 minutes so you can stretch your creativity throughout the day. It also comes with a 128GB Large Internal Storage that is expandable to 256GB via micro-SD card and 6GB worth of memory with Dynamic RAM Expansion (DRE) of up to 5GB for improved gameplay and multitasking.
Compared to the IPS LCD of realme 9i which was launched a couple of weeks earlier, the realme 9 provides a smoother and more vibrant display thanks to its 90Hz Super AMOLED Display. This phone also provides up to 1000 nits of brightness for excellent viewing even under direct sunlight.
Another refreshing feature of the realme 9 is its In-display Fingerprint Sensor with Heart Rate Monitor. This unit also supports wired audio via a built-in 3.5mm jack.
realme 9 Camera
Photography is the major suit of the realme 9 and if you like taking pictures with your phone (not just selfies) or your daily activities require you to capture the events happening around you – then, this could be the phone that you need. realme 9 is packed with flagship photography innovations that will unleash your creativity beyond limits.
Similar to the realme 9 pro and realme 9i, this phone also sports a triple camera set up but this one has the highest resolution among the three. It boasts a 108 MP, f/1.8, 26mm wide ProLight Camera powered by a Samsung HM6 Sensor which allows up to 9 images to be used in pixel-binning so you can capture better image quality even in low-light situations, making the realme 9 also the ideal night out companion. Completing the set up is an 8 MP, f/2.2, 120˚ Ultra-Wide and a 2 MP, f/2.4 Macro lens.
In addition to these impressive camera specs is the Street Photography 2.0 Mode which provides a variety of features catered to different mobile photography needs such as Peak & Zoom as well as the added 90’s Pop Street filter among others.
Here are some photos taken with the realme 9 using its Street Photography 2.0 mode with no filters. Compose, shoot and just let the phone add all the drama.

Another thing that I liked about the realme 9 camera is its night mode. Taking handheld photos in low light condition has never been this easy.
realme 9 also has a 16MP Selfie Camera that makes use of Clear Fusion Algorithm for better color quality on your selfie and for better facial recognition. This comes standard in the 9 series releases.
Both the front and rear cameras can shoot videos at up to 1080p and 30 frames per second with acceptable image stabilization.
The only downside to this phone is it’s not 5G. But that really have little effect on its wonderful features and performance. And besides, that will bring the price of this phone way up the midrange bracket.
