Mapúa University graduate Marc Zendrijk Valdez Pasumbal topped the latest Civil Engineering Licensure Examination (CELE) with the highest score of 94.10 percent.
This milestone reinforces the university’s standing as the country’s leading engineering and technological institution, and training ground for highly competent engineers.
Pasumbal follows 2025 Mapua topnotchers Engr. Miquel Lorrenzo Caballero Rubia (seventh overall in April 2025) and Engr. Justine S. Ahammed (third overall in November 2025).
Dr. Gilford Estores, dean of the School of Civil, Environmental, and Geological Engineering, said the learning institution implements academic support programs, curriculum alignment, and faculty mentoring to strengthen learning and exam readiness.
“The university administers exit and correlation examinations before students graduate to assess learning outcomes and licensure examination readiness. After graduation, student continue to receive structured institutional support through organized review sessions, access to review materials, and formal send-off activities to prepare them for the boards,” Estores explained.
Meanwhile, Pasumbal adopted a structured, eight-month-long, two-phased review strategy to get a head start. The first three months began during his last school term, where he focused on crafting comprehensive, personalized review notes and resting. The next five months marked the intensive review proper.
“I had to curb social media usage, allocating it only during breaks,” he confessed.
As a licensed engineer, Mapua graduate is setting his sights on construction management or structural engineering, while also applying as a part-time lecturer to give back to his alma mater. He advises future examinees to embrace the grind, take time to rest, and give it their all.
