Tanduay Wins at International Spirit Competition, Showcasing Rum Excellence

Tanduay Double Rum received a Double Gold, while Gold medals were awarded to Tanduay Reserve Rum 10 Years, Tanduay Asian Rum Gold, and Tanduay Reserve Rum Overproof. Tanduay Asian Rum Silver earned a Silver medal.

This was reflected in the recent International Spirits Competition presented by Enthusiast Report Magazine, where five of its premium rums were awarded top honors.

Enthusiast Report’s International Spirits Competition is a quarterly event that gathers connoisseurs with a combined tasting experience of 100 years to choose the  winners in various categories. The luxury and lifestyle magazine is known for featuring the best brands in wines and spirits, travel and leisure, fashion, motors, events, entertainment, and cigars. Its founding team has over 15 years experience in publications and spirit competitions and events.

What Makes Up Tanduay’s Award-Winning Rums

Tanduay Double Rum is a consistent winner in international spirits competitions. This premium rum showcases Tanduay’s mastery in blending and aging, as it is made from a blend of rums aged 16 and 5 years, aged in ex-bourbon barrels for an additional two years. This process makes this award-winning product an excellent sipping rum.

Dark amber in color, it has an aroma of tropical dried fruits, toasted nuts, and cooked pineapple. On the palate, it is a deluxe aged rum with flavors of caramelized pineapple and a mellow blend of cherry and vanilla. It has a round, fruity medium body, with an elegant, medium-long woody notes, raisin and tropical zest finish.

The gold medal-winning Tanduay Reserve Rum 10 Years is another showcase of the brand’s mastery at aging. This rum is aged for at least 10 years in ex-bourbon barrels. Excellent for both sipping neat and as a base in cocktails, it has rich aromas of tropical dried fruits, toasted oak, vanilla, butterscotch and toffee. On the palate, it has flavors of toasted oak unfold with balanced notes of caramel, vanilla, and dried fruits.  It has a round, smooth body that is medium to full in weight, and its finish is smooth and gently woody, with lingering hints of raisin and dark chocolate.

Tanduay Asian Rum Gold is another multi-awarded premium rum in the brand’s strong portfolio.  It is a complex and sophisticated rum that is aged up to 7 years in ex-bourbon barrels that can be enjoyed neat or mixed. Bright golden amber in color, it has a good balance of alcohol level and sweetness, with expressive flavors of vanilla, tropical fruits, coconut, and nutmeg. It has a mellow, smooth, and dry body, with a refined and elegant aroma. On the nose, you can get hints of mature honey, almond, caramel, toasted oak, orange peels, and vanilla.

Tanduay Reserve Rum Overproof is a masterful blend of pot and column still dark rums. On the nose, it has a clean-light intensity aroma characteristics of caramel, cherry, vanilla, with hints of banana, pineapple, and pear. On the palate, it has an off-dry sweetness, smooth and warming texture, medium intensity flavor characteristics of caramel and burnt sugar with light intensity of oak, vanilla, and sherry, with hints of banana and pear. It has medium-long and very complex finish.

Another award-winning product, Tanduay Asian Rum Silver is a blend of rum aged up to 5 years in ex-bourbon barrels that is also perfect for sipping neat and well-balanced for mixing. It is clear, transparent, and pale straw yellow in color, and on the nose, it has a good intensity of mandarin and grapefruit peel with toasted notes, coconut, and vanilla background. On the palate, it is a harmony of cream soda with flavors of citrus fruits. It has a satiny, crisp, fruity, light to medium body, and a finish that is dry and sweet with warm persistence.
