Grammy-winning, multi-platinum singer-songwriter Tyla returns with “WWP,” her first project since her debut album. This four-track release includes the singles “BLISS” and “IS IT,” new music, and features production from P. Priime and Sammy Soso, with a guest appearance by WizKid on “DYNAMITE.”Â
Following her homecoming shows in South Africa to end the year, the singer was adamant about returning to the studio. WWP is the first glimpse into those sessions, and its title is self-explanatory. With party-starters âBLISSâ and âIS ITâ already impacting everywhere from the charts to high-profile Coca-Cola marketing campaigns, TYLA adds to the jubilee âDYNAMITEâ and the enticing âMR. MEDIA,â songs that invite the listener to the dance floor without sacrificing any of TYLAâs vocal valor.
âDYNAMITE,â TYLAâs new collaboration with fellow African star WizKid, is one of the most hotly-coveted linkups in recent memory. For months, TYLA has teased the song at her global appearances – most recently at an exclusive listening session in London. Across social media her audience has expressed its anticipation for the official release of the song, the origins of which can be traced back to 2022. âWhen I thought of doing a mixtape called âWWP,â I went back to all my old demos and I remembered the Wiz one,â TYLA told her London audience in July. âAnd it was still good, like, after three years! I just told him, âLetâs finish it because I want to drop itâ.â
TYLAâs upwards trajectory continues, as she reaps the benefits of the impact of her debut campaign, which included the distinction of being the highest-charting African female soloist in Billboard 200 and Hot 100 history, as well as the first GRAMMY nomination and victory of her career. In addition TYLAâs standout singles âPUSH 2 STARTâ and âJUMPâ from her deluxe album TYLA+ are now RIAA Certified Gold.
The success of âBLISS,â which can be heard in the new Coca-Cola campaign âRoad Trip,â is a testament to her megastar profile, and sheâs enjoyed a summer lined with multi-faceted highlights, from her contribution to the Smurfs soundtrack, âEverything Goes Blue,â to headlining appearances at the world-renowned Openâer Festival in Poland and Tipsy Festival in Barbados.
TYLA is also expected to perform at the highly revered Global Citizen Festival in New York this coming September.
