The Tokyo-based alt-pop trio just dropped their 5th digital EP, “the outside wind” – a vibrant and emotional release that brings together raw vulnerability, funk-pop joy, and the genre-defying sound the band is known for.
The journey started with “tragedy”, a powerful track written for the 2025 Mode Gakuen TV campaign, which set a haunting and intense tone. Then came “pain” on 4 June, an emotionally charged anthem that resonated deeply with fans and quickly captured attention across social media. Now, with “the outside wind”, Chilli Beans. lifts the tension and open the door to a fuller, freer sound.
Anchoring the EP is “pineapple!”, a playful, funky summer jam that flips the emotional script and breathes new life into the release. About Chilli Beans
A three-piece band consisting of Moto (Vo), Maika (Ba & Vo), and Lily (Gt & Vo). Formed in 2019, the trio is rooted primarily in pop music. Each member possesses strong vocal ability and takes part in songwriting, composing, arranging, and even the creative direction themselves.
With a gender-neutral vibe and distinctive sound, they’ve drawn major attention. Their digital EP released in August 2021 featured the track “lemonade,” which reached #1 on Spotify Japan’s Viral Top 50 (Daily) and #3 on the Weekly chart.
