Converge ICT Solutions Inc. has given an early Christmas gift to travelers, powering free pure fiber public Wi-Fi at NAIA Terminal 3, the largest terminal of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, which handles approximately 13 million passengers per year.

This was in line with its Free Pure Fiber Wi-Fi project that aims to deliver free connectivity to all the terminals of selected nine international and domestic airports in the country, in partnership with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and several airport operators.

“A reliable and secure connection is a requisite to elevate the travel experience of passengers, especially this holiday season when the passenger volume in our airports is peaking. With this connectivity initiative, we hope we can make their journey smoother and more enjoyable as they experience the capabilities of a pure fiber connection,” said Converge CEO and Co-Founder Dennis Anthony Uy.

The free public connectivity will enable each registered user two hours of browsing per day.

Converge subscribers get an extra treat as those with an account in GoFiber may get an additional 6 hours of free internet access for a total of five devices if they input their GoFiber account number in the login page. For its prepaid fiber internet subscribers under Surf2Sawa, they may also enjoy 6 more hours of free wifi for two devices, once an account is registered.

For the convenience of passengers, the login page of Converge also features a facility to check their flight status.

Converge has activated over 120 access points in the four-storey facility, extending free access to reliable, and secure connection to its arrival and departure areas, waiting, and retail areas.

Joining the ceremonial powering up of the free Wi-Fi zone on Tuesday were Converge CEO Dennis Anthony Uy, Department of Transportation (DOTr) Sec. Jaime Bautista, Pasay City Mayor Imelda “Emi” Gallardo Calixto-Rubiano, and Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) Officer-in-Charge Bryan Co.

“MIAA is committed to transforming our airports to align with global standards and improve the travel experience of our passengers. With Converge as our connectivity partner, we can ensure that our airport terminals are powered with a world-class infrastructure, establishing a more convenient, comfortable, and digitally connected environment for inbound and outbound travelers,” said MIAA Officer-in-Charge Bryan Co.

After opening the free Wi-Fi zone, Converge also spearheaded the lighting of a 30-foot Christmas tree at one of the departure areas of the said terminal, igniting the Christmas spirit among passengers and airport personnel.

The NAIA Terminal 3 is NAIA’s largest hub which has a total of 24 boarding gates and 140 check-in counters that can accommodate an estimated 60,000 passengers per day.

Converge plans to cover in its Free Wi-Fi project all four of the airport’s terminals, kickstarting its rollout at NAIA Terminal 4 last July.

In the coming months, other domestic and international gateways will also be covered by the free connectivity, including Francisco Bangoy International Airport, Mactan-Cebu International Airport, Bacolod-Silay Airport, Iloilo International Airport, Laoag International Airport; Pagadian Airport; Tacloban Airport; and Zamboanga International Airport.
