What an incredible day it was! I had the absolute pleasure of joining the Orange Magazine PH team as they celebrated their 15th anniversary last July 1st at Timezone in Ayala Malls Feliz. As a fellow blogger and content creator, it was truly inspiring to be part of such a significant milestone for a platform that has genuinely shaped the digital media landscape here in the Philippines.
A Visionary Spark: How Orange Magazine Began
Itโs always fascinating to learn about the origins of successful ventures, and Orange Magazineโs story is no different. The brainchild of Jessie Bunyi Villanueva, known to many as Jeman, the magazine started from a deep passion for, well, magazines! Jeman, with his background as a tabloid correspondent and promotions coordinator, saw the immense potential of the internet to truly revolutionize media.
He shared his inspiration, saying, “Iโve always wanted to have my own magazine where I can accommodate every kind of information that pleases me without others telling me what and what not to publish.”
That kind of creative freedom is something every content creator dreams of, and itโs clear that this philosophy has been a guiding force for Orange Magazine.
The name “Orange” itself is so thoughtful. Jeman chose it to signify content that is always fresh, relevant, and true. He also mentioned that orange is the color of dawn, representing a new day and a fresh start. This really resonates with their early focus on “fresh elements” โ from the hottest fashion to the newest trends and the coolest entertainment personalities.
The Digital Leap and Its Impact
Jemanโs decision to go fully digital back in 2010 was incredibly strategic and forward-thinking. He understood that online content would be more accessible to readers and, crucially, easier to attract sponsors and advertisers. Plus, social networking sites offered a faster way to promote content, which was revolutionary at the time! Orange Magazine aimed to reach “everyone who knows how to use the internet,” a broad appeal achieved without ever compromising on content integrity. It’s truly commendable how they’ve maintained a diverse and inclusive approach, even catering to teens by avoiding explicit material.
Over the years, Orange Magazine has truly made a name for itself, featuring an impressive roster of local and international personalities. I was personally amazed to learn about the caliber of stars theyโve featured โ from K-Pop groups like One Way, 2AM, and Jay Park to global sensations such as Westlife, 30 Seconds To Mars, Bruno Mars, and even the iconic Melanie Chisholm (a.k.a. Sporty Spice)! They’ve also highlighted prominent Filipino figures like Christian Bautista, Anne Curtis-Smith, Gloc-9, and members of the Philippine Azkals. It’s a testament to their broad appeal and consistent ability to deliver engaging content.
And the numbers? They speak for themselves! Orange Magazine currently boasts a phenomenal 7.3 MILLION reach on Facebook, 3.8 MILLION on TikTok, 1.8 MILLION on Instagram, and a staggering 41.2 MILLION views on YouTube. These figures are a clear indication of their commitment to interesting content and the fantastic engagement they have with their loyal followers through exciting contests.
The Heart of Orange Magazine: The Team
While Jeman, as the online publisher and editor-in-chief, is undoubtedly the driving force, the continued growth of Orange Magazine is significantly attributed to its dynamic team. Itโs clear that their collaborative spirit is what keeps Orange Magazine consistently delivering relevant and compelling content.
Kister Morata, Jemanโs business partner and a fellow content creator, shared his inspiring journey:
“Looking back, I first connected with Orange Magazine by covering their events. Now, thanks to them, Iโve worked with my dream brands and traveled overseas; itโs been nothing short of a blessing.โ He emphasized, โJeman built a strong foundation, but the continuous evolution of Orange Magazine has been a collective effort; Itโs inspiring to be part of a platform that never stops adapting and growing.โ It’s wonderful to see such a strong partnership!
Sharmaine Rodriguez, another talented content creator on the team, also expressed her positive experience:
โWhen I joined, I was immediately struck by the energy and openness to new ideas. It’s a place where you can truly contribute to shaping the narrative, and seeing our work resonate with thousands of readers is incredibly rewarding.” It’s evident that under Jemanโs lead, Team Orange is always on the lookout for innovative ways to engage their audience, whether through new social media formats or interactive features.
Cheers to 15 Years and Beyond!
As Orange Magazine celebrates its 15th anniversary, it truly stands as a pioneering force in Philippine digital media. They remain committed to their founding principles of freshness, relevance, and truth, and Iโm personally excited to see what further innovations and continued engagement they’ll bring to their ever-expanding readership.
The anniversary party itself was a fantastic experience. It was wonderful to see so many bloggers, vloggers, and content creators like myself gathered to celebrate Orange Magazine’s success and show our continuous support. It really highlighted how Orange Magazine has cultivated a tight-knit community within the online industry. We all enjoyed the fun activities, the generous prizes, and the chance to network and form collaborations, further contributing to the fresh, engaging content that has made Orange Magazine a true trailblazer.
