In a remarkable collaboration that unites beauty, purpose, and service, Miss Universe Philippines and Caritas Manila officially signed a partnership agreement on April 10, 2025, at Caritas Manila’s headquarters in Pandacan.
The partnership is geared toward uplifting the lives of the poor through advocating for quality education, combating malnutrition, and promoting environmental sustainability. This historic alliance strengthens both organizations’ shared mission of creating lasting impact.
Leading the contract signing were Empire Philippines President and CEO, Mr. Jonas Gaffud; Miss Universe Philippines Officer, Ms. Shamcey Supsup-Lee; and Caritas Manila’s Executive Director, Rev. Fr. Anton C.T. Pascual. Adding grace and excitement to the event were 29 candidates of Miss Universe Philippines 2025 and 25 candidates of Mister Pilipinas Worldwide 2025.
Through this partnership, Miss Universe Philippines will amplify Caritas Manila’s call to “help the poor help themselves” by promoting the organization’s flagship programs:
- Youth Servant Leadership and Education Program (YSLEP): Providing 5,000 college and technical-vocational scholarships annually.
- Damayan: Offering timely disaster relief and rehabilitation support to calamity-affected communities, as well as providing supplemental feeding to undernourished children and mothers.
- Segunda Mana: Promoting environmental sustainability through a social enterprise that encourages waste reduction and the reuse of donated goods.
Caritas Manila, a Church-based charity organization, has been dedicated to serving the poor for 72 years. Meanwhile, Miss Universe Philippines is the country’s most prestigious beauty pageant, home to empowered women who use their beauty, intelligence, and advocacy to inspire meaningful change.
“Miss Universe Philippines and Mister Pilipinas Worldwide [go] beyond the crown. A lot of young boys and girls look up to us. It’s not just about beauty; it’s about our values, our integrity,” said Ms. Shamcey Supsup-Lee.
This spirit-filled partnership marks the beginning of empowering communities and building a more compassionate and sustainable future.
Feeding Program at BASECO, Tondo
Right after the contract signing, the candidates of Miss Universe Philippines 2025 and Mister Pilipinas Worldwide 2025 headed to the BASECO Compound in the Port Area of Tondo, Manila.
The pageant contenders brought smiles to the faces of 150 underprivileged children, who are beneficiaries of Caritas Manila’s Munting Pag-asa Integrated Nutrition Program. The candidates distributed Wendy’s meals to the children.
