Fans of Filipino literature and theatre are in for a treat as the immensely popular novel, Para Kay B, written by the renowned author Ricky Lee, is set to make its debut on stage through an exciting adaptation.
This highly anticipated theatrical production is being organized by the collaboration of LA Production House and Fire & Ice Live, both of which are known for their commitment to delivering quality performances. The show is scheduled to run from March 14 to March 30 in the year 2025, and it will be hosted at the intimate Doreen Black Box Theater, situated within the prestigious Ateneo de Manila University.
This adaptation promises to captivate audiences and bring the beloved story to life in a new and engaging format, making it an event not to be missed for all fans of arts and culture.
“Fire & Ice Live is about creating experiences and amplifying stories of the unseen, and Para Kay B embodies thatâitâs a raw, witty, and unfiltered exploration of loveâs unpredictability, the heartbreaks we endure, and the rare but magical exceptions to the rule. Being part of this production, both as an actress and as a producer, feels like coming home to a story that has touched so many hearts. Playing Ester is deeply personal, as it mirrors my own journey of discovering love beyond expectations,” says Liza Diño, CEO of Fire & Ice Live and actress portraying Ester in the play.
An Iconic Story Brought to the Stage
Adapted for theatre by the acclaimed Eljay Castro Deldoc, a three-time first prize winner of the Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards, and a comeback to directing for Yong Tapang, Jr. who helmed the 2019 film âDoon Sa Isang Sulok,â Para Kay B explores the complexities of love through the intertwined lives of Lucas, Bessie, Ester, Sandra, Irene, and Erica.
âPeople need to see Para Kay B because it speaks to a lot of generations. It is a literary masterpiece that served as a roadmap to a generation looking for love, loss, moral, and social issues. Love letter din namin ito sa mga manunulat at sa artists na patuloy naghahanap ng mga kwento,â says Tapang on why the public must see the play.
This adaptation is set to deliver an emotionally charged and visually compelling experience, staying true to the novelâs essence while adding a fresh theatrical perspective.
