The Philippines’ “Concert Queen” Ms Pops Fernandez returns to television as the host of the newest drama anthology series FOR THE LOVE – a joint project of TV5 and Viva Studio.
The show will initially have 13 episodes featuring some of the industry’s up and coming writers and directors, including JP Laxamana, Rod Marmol, Joel Ferrer, and Dustin Celestino. Each episode will offer stories based on some of the most popular and endearing OPM love songs and stars some of today’s rising artists and love teams like Heaven Peralejo and Marco Gallo, Krissha Viaje and Wilbert Ross, Bea Binene and Gab Lagman, and many others.
During the media launch held on July 19 at Viva Cafe PH in Araneta City, Ms Pops Fernandez reveals that FOR THE LOVE was the winning entry of a concept-writing competition and that each episode will bear the title of an OPM love song from which the story was based. “Song came first,” said the iconic pop singer-performer.
Aside from being the show’s host and narrator, Ms Pops Fernandez will also be serenading viewers with the featured OPM love song per episode. She will also be giving her “love advice” at the end of each show.
When asked about the possibility of her being featured in one of the episodes as an actor or to do a cameo in some of the episodes, Ms Fernandez quickly replied that she misses acting as well and will welcome the idea if presented to her. She also said that the idea of putting up a compilation album of the OPM songs used in the series was also a good idea.
Ms Pops Fernandez is also not fazed with the notion of her, being compared to Ms Charo Santos and Ms Mel Tiangco hosting FOR THE LOVE because of the similarity that their shows have. She believe that it’s an honor to be compared to the two hosts and that her show may have something new to bring to the table.
FOR THE LOVE premieres on July 29 with “Kahit Kailan” featuring the love team of Heaven Peralejo and Marco Gallo.
Music is a universal love language that touches people’s hearts and makes stories even more relatable across all ages. It is through this powerful medium of music that TV5 aims to captivate audiences with romantic stories told through the heartwarming accompaniment of poignant OPM hits.
Catch the premiere of “For the Love” this July 29, Saturday at 3:20PM on TV5. For updates, behind-the-scenes, and further information about the show, follow TV5 and Viva Entertainment on their social media pages and channels.
