Launched here in the Philippines at the start of the second half of 2022 with a price tag of 8,999 Pesos, the OPPO A57 is an under 10K smartphone that is both aesthetically pleasing and practical.

If there’s one thing that’s worth mentioning about this device from OPPO, is that it’s an amazing and reliable travel companion. Let’s cut to the chase and narrow down on the main reasons why OPPO A57 is one of the best phones to have when you’re always on-the-go!

The A57 is powered by the now industry-standard massive 5000 mAh battery that is sure to last you a full 24 hours and even more on a very busy day. But the real juice here is that when you purchase this unit it also comes with its own 33W SuperVOOC charger and USB Type C cable. VOOC is of course OPPO’s very own fast charging technology which stands for Voltage Open Loop Multi-step Constant-Current Charging. Whew, that’s a mouthful but what it means is that using their chargers will give your gadgets more power faster than the usual.

OPPO’s SuperVOOC technology uses a split battery system, doubling output power in the process. The 33W SuperVOOC roughly translates to about 65 minutes of charging time, that’s from 0 to 100.

OPPO A57 is a delightful gadget to use primarily because of what’s in its core. It has a MediaTek MT6765G Helio G35 chipset, a 2.3GHz octa-core processor, and a PowerVR GE8320 GPU. All working as a team to give users a satisfying experience even while multi-tasking.

The unit that I was using has 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. For many that is already more than enough. What’s great about the A57 is that you can still stretch these figures to adapt to your needs. With OPPO’s Memory Expansion Technology, your A57 can temporarily convert available ROM into virtual RAM when needed to give you a smooth and lag less performance in most cases. Also, if you need extra storage, the A57 is upgrade-capable to 1TB via microSD. So if you decide to document everything about your travels, you can be confident that your phone will always have space for all your photos and videos.

The A57 runs on ColorOS 12.1 which provides a highly pleasurable user experience featuring added privacy and multi-tasking features.

Available in two colors – Green and Black. The OPPO A57 has a premium feel almost similar to the new iPhones with its boxed corners, signature Glow matte finish and simplistic or uncomplicated 2D design. I personally prefer phones that are non-shiny and outstandingly simple and elegant – the A57 Glowing Black takes the cake!

The back of the phone is so clean that even the black rectangular bezel that holds the rear cameras blends amazingly with the design. I also love how the OPPO logo is almost unnoticeable which makes the device extremely premium. Let the design shout your name out for you.

Screen size is 6.56″ with an HD+ (1612 x 720) IPS color rich display. Side and bottom panels contains the power/fingerprint scanner button, SIM and microSD tray, volume controls, USB Type C slot, 3.5mm Audio jack, Noise-Cancelling Mic, and the Dual Stereo Speakers which uses the DIRAC3.0 technology and Engage Super Volume Mode to boost levels by nearly 100%.

The unit was built to last, tested for drops, scratches and inclement weather. It’s also both water (IPX4) and dust (IPX5) resistant.

OPPO A57 has a 13MP dual camera set up on the rear which includes a 2MP depth. The front or selfie camera is 8MP. I noticed that while the main is only 13MP and even with the absence of a macro, photos are all crisp and clear even in low-light environments. The A57 photography tools also helps, like the AI Portrait retouching and Portrait Bokeh, as well as the in-screen 360 Fill Light that you can use for night-time selfies.

Video recording is at 1080P and 30FPS. Surprisingly good even at low light conditions but you’ll probably need a stabilizer when you’re taking videos of your travels. Or not. Raw handheld shaky footages works also because it’s more authentic.

Here are some of the photos that I took using the A57 main camera. Most of these photos were taken under low light conditions and at close up because as far as specs are concerned that’s supposed to be its weakest – but as you can see in the pictures, that wasn’t the case with the A57. It passed!

Overall, the OPPO A57 offers a premium look plus it’s a fast and reliable companion for all your on-the-go adventures. Whether it’s a short trip to the mall or a one week out-of-town vacation with friends.
