This year, Samsung Philippines is officially taking the lead to expand its local e-sports initiatives by sponsoring the upcoming Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League in the Philippines starting February 18, 2022.

During the height of the pandemic, mobile gaming apps registered the highest growth usage in the Philippines, based on Global Web Index. In addition, 98% of Filipinos aged 16 to 64 own a smartphone and from these users, 72% are into mobile gaming. From these gaming apps, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang took the top spot based on active users.

With the growing popularity of mobile gaming, Samsung Philippines has partnered with international gaming developer, MOONTON Games to strengthen its presence in the gaming scene, further solidifying the role of its products to gamers and streamers in the country. Samsung already begun to tap the gaming community with its Galaxy A Series, positioning it as the best affordable mobile gaming phone for all.

The new season will bring more challenges to gamers nationwide while featuring well-known esports players like Bren Esports, ECHO, Smart Omega, Nexplay EVOS, TNC Pro, RSG Philippines, ONIC PH, and the defending champion Blacklist International. The partnership will support all Mobile Legends: Bang Bang initiatives aimed at connecting Gen Z and Millennial gamers nationwide.

The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League – Philippines (MPL-PH) Season 9 also gets the green light from Games and Amusements Board (GAB) to go offline from the 3rd week of the regular season up to the playoffs. GAB initially confirmed the approval to have the games onsite from Week 5 onward.

During the period, strict health and safety protocols will be implemented such as having swab tests and limiting the number of personnel entering in the venue. There will also be a roving safety officer to ensure everyone follows the rules. Safety and sanitation kits will be shared with all attendees and potential cases will be isolated.

The venue will be limited to players, casters, and staff for safety purposes. There will also be no audience during the games, but fans can stream the matches at the comfort of their homes through MPL-PH’s official social media platforms – Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube.
