JULIUS BABAO one of the Philippines’ most trusted news anchor and journalist has formally signed in with the Kapatid Network to initially join the roster of TV5’s news and current affairs team via Frontline Pilipinas.
The name Julius Babao first came up to ranks in various shows produced by ABS CBN and primarily as a news reporter and eventually a standby news anchor in TV Patrol way back in 1993. But he has been in the industry since 1990, joining GMA Network as a PA and radio reporter.
Working at ABS CBN, Julius Babao is known for shows like Alas Singko Y Medya and Talk TV (with future wife Christine Bersola), XXX, Bandila, Lingkod Kapamilya, Mission Possible, and various shows on DZMM.
28 years after joining the Kapamilya Network, Julius made his finalappearance on TV Patrol and TeleRadyo Balita to announce that he will now be joining the Kapatid Network for Frontline Pilipinas as News Anchor together with fellow veteran anchor Cheryl Cosim.
Babao’s transfer to the Kapatid Network raises the ante for TV5 especially as it gears up for its coverage of the elections in May. Babao’s over 30 years of experience serves to add to the combined journalistic expertise of its roster of anchors.
In a recent media conference, Julius Babao let out a couple of eye-opening quotable quotes to answer questions from the press and bloggers. Here are a couple of my favorites:
“Kapag masyado kang naging kampante sa iyong career o trabaho, parang that’s close to retirement, feeling ko ay naging stagnant na, so I need to do more things, expand my wings.”
“It’s really not so much about the opinion of the media personality, it’s the background of the media personality, Pag ang isang broadcaster ay nabalitaan na natin na may record na hindi maganda in the past, medyo magdududa ka na dun or masyado ng bias ang kanyang pananaw sa mga issues.
I remember one time when I was a young reporter sa GMA, I was asked to cover a trial, and this guy inabutan ako ng envelope na may lamang pera. I have protected my integrity for many years at hindi ako tumanggap ng kahit anong suhol kahit kanino.
Aside from anchoring Frontline Pilipinas, Babao seeks to continue his life mission of service to Filipinos through a program that aims to extend exceptionally generous assistance to select and deserving small and medium scale enterprise (SMSE) owners and even underground economy-reliant Filipinos even as the country navigates the economic and social challenges ahead.
Watch Julius Babao’s daily broadcast in Frontline Pilipinas starting Feb. 7, every 5:30PM, live on TV5 and via livestream at News5 Facebook and YouTube pages.
