It was a fun afternoon as Wish Ko Lang host Vicky Morales sat down to meet for the first time some of Mega Manila’s entertainment and lifestyle bloggers.

The event hosted by the GMA Network Social Media Team is in line with the 16th year anniversary of one of the longest running legacy programs of GMA News and Public Affairs and quite possibly on television.

Wish Ko Lang in its own unique ways has changed the lives of hundreds of Filipinos throughout its 16-year programming – from ordinary people with special conditions, victims of abuse and poverty, and even celebrities.

“Imagine 16 years ago, dumarating sa amin ang kahun-kahon ng sulat. Ngayon, email na., Facebook messages, mga Instagram. Ang daming nagbago over the past 16 years but what will never go out of style is spreading kindness and that’s what the show wants to do.”

Vicky Morales credits the hardworking and creative staff of the show for its success. She also thank all the viewers who have made Wish Ko Lang what it is today – a beacon of hope and an inspiration to people from all walks of life.

Wish Ko Lang has gained numerous recognitions. In 2018 alone, Morales was awarded the Best Public Service Program Host at the 32nd PMPC Star Awards and the Pinakamagiting na Personalidad ng Public Service Program at the 6th Kagitingan Awards for Television while the program was awarded the Pinakamagiting na Public Service Program.

Wish Ko Lang was also awarded the 2018 Best Public Service Program of the Year at the 5th Umalokojuan Media Awards and at the 9th Northwestern Samar State University Student’s Choice Awards for Radio and TV.

Vicky Morales said that in all the years she spent hosting Wish Ko Lang, she have never ever thought of “hanging the towel” or passing the baton to another capable hand. Morales admitted that the show has faced a lot of challenges – from internal conflicts to network competitions – but the program has survived and adapted to every situation.

Another thing that greatly contributed to the staying power of the program is its sincerity.

During the event, Morales recalls some of the most memorable stories in the Wish Ko Lang library and said that more than granting people’s wishes, the program is able to change lives. While there are some sad results or those who were not able to make the most of what the program has given them, many have used their granted wishes well.

“After watching Wish Ko Lang, parang di mo na kailangan mag-simba,” Morales said quoting one of the most memorable remarks that the show got from viewers.

For their 16th year, Wish Ko Lang now intends to make each episode stronger and more inspiring. Just this month, Wish Ko Lang gave a new house as an early Christmas gift to three orphaned brothers. In one of its upcoming episodes, another house will be given to another deserving wisher.

For its upcoming December episodes, the program will star award-winning celebrities Manilyn Reynes, Ruru Madrid, Kyline Alcantara and Rayver Cruz who will give life to beautiful stories that will continue to touch our hearts.

After a long time, Wish Ko Lang will also get a new OBB (opening break bumper) plus a new theme song.

When asked about her personal wishes, Morales said that what she really wish for is for the show to be on air for many more years so that it can make more people happy and for her to leave a wonderful legacy, for her children and to future generations.

“We want goodness to last,” Morales concluded.

Wish Ko Lang airs 4PM every Saturday on GMA, after Tadhana.
