Fresh from the well-received GMA afternoon romantic comedy series “Meant To Be” – the successful tandem of Barbie Forteza (Billie) and Ken Chan (Yuan) extends to the big screen, bringing to life the complicated love story of Erika and Tristan in Regal MultiMedia’s THIS TIME I’LL BE SWEETER.
Can love be sweeter the second time around?
That is the question presented in the story of TTIBS and also the question asked by bloggers and online media to all the cast who attended the film’s recent blog & media conference.
Joining #KenBie (Ken Chan/Barbie Forteza) during the event were Kim Rodriguez, Akihiro Blanco, Hiro Peralta, Jai Agpangan, Fiona Yang, Kaki Ramirez and acclaimed film director Joel Lamangan.
While I am not really a big fan of love stories and romance films or novels (guy talking here) – I am however a fan of the acting skills of the two lead stars.
Barbie Forteza (20 years old) is considered as one of GMA Network’s most talented young female actress. Her portrayal of the role of young Jodi in the local adaptation of the Korean drama series “Stairway To Heaven” in 2009 was really outstanding. This was followed by equally successful TV series like First Time (2010), Pilyang Kerubin (2010), Nita Negrita (2011), Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin (2011), Luna Blanca (2012), Paroa (2012), Anna Karenina (2013), The Half Sisters (2014), That’s My Amboy (2016) and Meant To Be (2017).
She’s one of the talents of GMA Artist Center that’s busy with television projects every year since she started in the industry with or without a partner (love team) and her TV series “The Half Sisters” is also one of the longest-running drama series of all time (2014 – 2016).
Ken Chan (24 years old) on the other hand started his showbiz career in 2011 as a co-host and performer in “Walang Tulugan” with the late Master Showman German Moreno. His biggest break was when he portrayed the title role in the hit GMA TV Series “Destiny Rose” in 2015.
Barbie and Ken crossed paths in the TV series “Meant To Be” but they’ve been friends even before that. And while they’re not really an item outside showbiz – their bond as friends has kept them a favorite among fans and hence the clamor for more #KenBie on the screen.
Also in the movie is another Kapuso gem, Thea Tolentino, she will play third wheel in the love story of Erika and Tristan. Thea is the other half sister in GMA’s “The Half Sisters” – so this will be like a reunion project for Barbie and Thea.
Joining them as well are veteran actors Ara Mina, Rey Abellana, Neil Ryan Sese, Yayo Aguila and many others.
THIS TIME I’LL BE SWEETER will be in theaters nationwide starting this November 8 (Wednesday).
