For those who didn’t know, we celebrated FATHER’S DAY last June 18 along with the rest of the world who fortunately remembered the date. 🙂

It comes once a year and a month after its more popular counterpart – Mother’s Day.

How did Father’s Day started? Well, no one knows exactly but it must’ve been brought out by a group of sad and sobbing dads looking for attention and complaining about inequality. (hehe)

Father’s Day has gained much favor over the years here in the Philippines, specially for families who have dads performing both the duties of mother and father at the same time. Yes, while we have a lot of solo moms, we also have an increasing population of solo dads as well.

Bible says, “Honor your Mother and Father” – so, I guess a celebration like Mother’s Day and Father’s Day is something of spiritual in nature. Even greater than that of birthdays or your next big promotion.

My dad passed away more than a decade already, and sadly, we were not able to enjoy a lot Father’s Day celebration together. I grew up in an environment where celebrations are not a thing. Where both my parents had to work just to get us through school and every single day was a financial challenge. Because of this, I can’t even remember a birthday that was celebrated with a party at home for me, my sister or my parents.

It was only with friends and my groups that I get to experience an actual birthday celebration –  and that was during my college days already.

I am now a dad myself to two very wonderful kids – and thankfully, my two kids can say that birthdays, anniversaries, Christmases and even Halloweens are worth celebrating.

So how did I celebrated Father’s Day this year? Not that grand, I’m afraid – but it’s more memorable than I’d expected.

Father’s Day Massage

Four days before Father’s Day, I received an invitation for a Father’s Day Massage Treat at Blue Water Day Spa Ortigas.

A pampering I’ve wished for a very long time. So that invite was like an answered prayer.

I went there with a couple of blogger friends to experience their 90-minute Athlete’s Massage that comes with a 10-minute application of a hot moist pack which helps in relieving muscles of tension and improve circulation.

The Athlete’s Massage focuses on joints and muscles to relieve pain and muscle spasms.

I would like to receive this

I really love Blue Water Day Spa in Ortigas. They have a complete line of pampering services for just about everyone (even kids). I’ve been there about four or five times in the past three years, and would visit it frequently if only it’s near Manila.

Aside from the services, this place is like a haven for tired bodies and souls.

Blue Water Day Spa Ortigas is located at the 2/F of BPI Greentop Condominium, Ortigas Avenue in Greenhills, San Juan. They’re open from 1PM to 12MN – For bookings and inquiries call (02) 724-0426 / (02) 727-8420 /0917-815-6659.

This Father’s Day, I was also gifted with a wonderful 3-day weekend blogging adventure to Boracay courtesy of friends from Azalea Boracay. This memorable experience gave me a lot firsts in life.

Stories about my Azalea Boracay adventure is UP NEXT.

Father’s Day Gifts

While in Boracay, my kids told me that I have a couple of Father’s Day gifts waiting for me at home.

One was from Royce Hotel & Casino – a wrist watch.

And then a souvenir mug and coffee vouchers from McDonald’s and McCafe.

But I think the best gift that I got this Father’s Day was coming home to this:
