The Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) presented its line up of Filipino fighters during a media conference last Monday (June 19) at Winford Hotel and Casino in Manila.
The URCC fighter roster has grown tremendously over the years, with new cream of the crop fighters to select from, we get to see first hand who will become the next Manny Pacquiao in the field of MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) – especially at this time in history where the popularity of the sport is fast growing.
All fighters rise from the bottom but few can make it to the top; among those fighters making their debut and official way to the top is indie film actor and model turned fighter Kiko Matos who started his career with an exhibition match last June 2016 against actor Baron Geisler.
Another fighter also on the 2017 URCC fight calendar is Mark Striegl, who started his fight career with the URCC way back in 2010.
URCC Global Expansion
The URCC held its first western event in San Francisco, California last January for URCC 29: Conquest. This marked the beginning of its expansion worldwide, making the URCC the first Asian MMA Promotion to expand operations in the USA. But the buck doesn’t stop there because they’ll be taking all the URCC MMA action to Beijing, China this coming July 8, 2017.
The URCC XXX Fight Card #TeamPilipinas is headed by two-division URCC Middleweight and Light Heavyweight Champion Chris Hofmann of DEFTAC and URCC Women’s Flyweight World Champion, Geli Bulaong of Subsports Philippines; two champions from two of the most respected and reputable MMA teams in the country.
Also included in the #TeamPilipinas roster is former Lightweight contender, Isaiah “The Messiah” Ordiz of BOSS MMA. Plus, uprising URCC Bantamweight, Rodian, , “The Redeemer” Menchavez of Catalan Fighting System who is on a 3-fight win streak. The original “T-Rex” and Knockout King, Rex De Lara of MUMMA/Fight Factory, Elorde Tandang Sora’s KO artist, Jojo “El Matador” Orao, Highly regarded prospect, Paolo Castillo of Abao Combat Club, Newly signed URCC Bantamweight, Ralf Francisco and of course Jiar Castillo, Jaimelene Nievera and Derrick Easterling.
URCC History in the Making
Also worth mentioning, the future shines even brighter that after 15 years in the fight business, the URCC through its founder Alvin Aguilar and the China-Philippines Martial Arts Development Association (CPMAADA) is now supported by the Office of the President, Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) Martial Arts Council.
URCC XXX will be held in partnership with the Cross Straights Sports Development Bureau, who are among the list of groups who will spearhead programs that will help improve our Filipino fighters and be exposed at various training facilities in China and vice-versa in order to level-up their martial arts skills to a whole new level.
URCC 31 and Beyond
URCC 31: Vendetta will be held on August 12 for the first time in the historic Araneta Coliseum (The Big dome) and will be presented in partnership with San Miguel Corporation. The partnership resumes again in November for URCC 33.
And like what they say in URCC – BAKBAKAN NA!
