A new world-class budget hotel arrives in the Philippines as HOP INN officially opened its doors to Manila clients!

On December 1, 2016, Hop Inn Hotel Ermita opened its doors to local and foreign tourists to experience and enjoy first-hand what a combination of Thai expertise and world-renowned Filipino hospitality are all about.

While it falls under the economy travel class, the hotel is designed to offer quality and convenient stays brought about by the company’s 35 years worth of experience in developing international 5-star hotels, such as the Grand Hyatt, Holiday Inn, Starwood and JW Marriott, among many others.

I was invited two weeks ago to the grand formal inauguration of Hop Inn Hotel Ermita which was graced by the presence of Ms. Kamonwan Wipulakorn, the Director and President of the Erawan Group PLC and Mr. Youssef El Khomri, the Senior VP for Hotel Operations of the Erawan Group PLC.

The event was attended by various media outfits and guests and highlighted by a Thai cultural dance performance and a free Thai massage experience for all guests. Ms. Wipulakorn also gave us a quick backgrounder on what Hop Inn Hotel is all about. And here are some of the things that I have taken note of during her presentation:

  • The Erawan Group PLC is the only listed hotel company that covers all segments (Luxury, Mid-Scale and Economy). Hop Inn Hotel falls under the Economy bracket.
  • The Erawan Group PLC will invest a total of 30% in their 2016-2020 budget to Hop Inn Hotel expansions here in the Philippines.
  • The Erawan Group PLC is targetting to open a total of 20 hotels here in the Philippines by the end of 2020.

When asked about the reason they choose the Philippines as their biggest investment target in Asia aside from Thailand, Ms. Kamonwan Wipulakorn said,

“The country has high potential for tourism in the long term. We believe that the Philippines will offer the fastest and highest economic growth in the Asean region and through our analysis and market research on the ground, we see very good opportunities to expand in the Philippines.”

Hop Inn Hotel Ermita has a total of 168 rooms – all spacious and well-appointed. Each is equipped with fundamental amenities to ensure a good night’s sleep after a tiring business or leisure trip, and in preparation for the next day’s meetings or city exploration.

Thailand’s best value hotel has four key selling points – Clean, Convenient, Comfortable and Secure.

Upon entry to this mid-rise property, visitors could already feel the warmth of this place with the vibrant colors of the lobby. This is complemented by the courteous and accommodating staff, who are well-trained and on-hand to assist them so as to make their stay well worth their money. There is also a 7-Eleven outlet right beside the hotel  talk about convenience.

They have three types of rooms to choose from –  a Standard Twin Room (with 2 single beds), a Standard Double Room (with Queen Size Bed) and spacious Standars Rooms made for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).  You may also choose rooms with Sea View for that added Manila Bay experience.

All rooms come with:

  • Flat Screen TV

  • Split-Typer Aircon
  • Personal Safe
  • Desk and Chair
  • Hot and Cold Shower
  • Clothes Rack
  • Towels and Linens
  • Hairdryer
  • Free Toiletries

Another thing to take note of is that while the hotel is called Hop Inn Hotel Ermita, the building is actually located along M.H. Del Pilar Street in Malate, Manila. It is actually withing walking distance to Malate Church (Our Lady of Remedies), Rajah Sulayman Park, Roxas Boulevard, Remedios Circle, Robinsons Place Ermita and the busy night district of Manila! The most perfect place to stay when in Manila.

In 2017, The Erawan Group PLC is expected to come out with its Hop Inn Hotel outlet in Makati City. Others in the pipeline include the ones in Aseana, Pasay City and Alabang-  both scheduled for inaugural in the first quarter of 2018. The Group is also looking at Quezon City, Chinatown, and Cubao in Metro Manila, as well as Cebu and Davao in the Visayas and Mindanao regions as potential sites for its Hop Inn brand.
