Pioneer Insurance partnered with FILSCAP to launch a college songwriting competition and campus caravan that aims to give musically-inclined students a venue to learn and to showcase their talents in writing music.
FILSCAP or the Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, Inc. is the sole and official music copyright society here in the Philippines. Pioneer is one of the top life and non-life insurance companies in the country who have been engaging in various partnership activities in the past years to support Filipino ingenuity and creativity.
Here’s a quick look at what happened during the launch and some thoughts from bloggers who attended the event:
Representing the two organizations at the official launch of the project last Monday were FILSCAP President and Singer-Songwriter RICO BLANCO, FILSCAP Chairman ARTURO LUI PIO, Pioneer Retail Organization Head LORENZO CHAN JR., and Pioneer FVP for Marketing LEN POZON.
Other FILSCAP members were also present during the launch held at the Hard Rock Cafe in Makati such as Spongecola Lead Vocals YAEL YUZON, Sandwich Lead RAIMUND MARASIGAN, and many others.
FILSCAP Campus Caravan
During its run, the FILSCAP Campus Caravan is set to visit De La Salle University-Manila, San Beda College Alabang, UP Diliman, University of Santo Tomas and University of Makati. Each visit is set to have a songwriting talk to be conducted by FILSCAP plus a face-to-face session with a well-known Filipino songwriter.
Rico Blanco said that they are working to add more colleges in the line-up since they’re hoping that the Campus Caravan would become a sustained and continuous year-round activity of the association.
Here is Rico sharing his excitement and enthusiasm with the new program in partnership with Pioneer Insurance:
And here the representatives of music societies from the different colleges supporting the Campus Caravan and #MoveOnLang Songwriting Competition:
The songwriting competition, which will also be introduced during the Campus Caravan will carry the theme #MoveOnLang – which will focus on the Filipino trait of resiliency, or the ability to bounce back from any adverse situations or what we might call as a setback.
Over 260,000 Pesos in cash will be given away, with 100,000 Pesos to be awarded to the grand winner. Winners will also receive insurance coverage from Pioneer, while a special prize will also be awarded to the Online Favorite.
Interested applicants can visit www.moveonlang.ph to register and submit their entry.
The Pioneer Group has been a staunch supporter of the arts. Finding inspiration in media such as visual arts, film, music, and theater, Pioneer gives back by sponsoring, covering and promoting these events. Here is Lorenzo Chan sharing his thoughts about this new endeavor with FILSCAP:
