Acer is currently one of the leading tech brands here in the Philippines with a comfortable market share of 32.5% in total as of the first quarter of 2016!

This, and with a full confidence on their latest innovation in projection technology prompted the company to officially launch here in the Philippines their new line of DLP (Digital Light Processing) Projectors yesterday at the Sky Dome of SM City North EDSA in Quezon City.

The event was hosted by actress-model Phoemela Baranda and featured the Acer DLP ES-12 and X117H in a stunning 360 degrees 4D visual experience that highlighted the projectors awesome #TrueToLife capabilities from color vividness to image quality.

What is a Projector?

Projector is short for Optical Projector, an optical device that simply projects an image on to a flat surface or a screen. It shared a common history with the camera that goes as far back as the 4th Century. However it was not until the late 1800s when the first movie or video  projector was invented and they called it as the zoopraxiscope designed by british photographer Eadweard Muybridge.

During the mid 20th Century, the simple projectors branched out into many variations and the most popular were the overhead and slide projectors. While video projection technology evolved from CRT (Cathode Ray Tubes) to LCD, DLP, LED, LCoS and Laser.

DLP Projection Technology

Developed by Texas Instruments, DLP compared to other projection technologies, produces better image quality because of its DMD or Digital Mircromirror Device Chip.

14100312_1352843661409704_1428993720431511228_n“DLP Projector Technology is different because of its DMD Chip that projects a thousand mirrors to compose a high-definition image. This chip is highly durable and long-lasting which contributes to the DLP Projector’s Total Cost of Ownership,” explained Faith Kuo during her the product presentation segment of the launch. She is the Business Manager for Projectors, Digital Display Business Unit – Acer Taiwan Headquarters.

The demand for digital display or projection has evolved throughout time. From simple overhead projector, to remote-controlled digital projectors that are connected to computers and notebooks for presentations and entertainment purposes.

The new line of Acer DLP projectors supports a standard screen ratio of 4:3 and a compatible aspect ratio of 16:9. These projectors have a minimum projection distance of one meter and maintain quality image at a maximum of 11.80 meters.

With a 40-degree keystone correction that automatically adjusts vertical distortions, these projectors are convenient and flexible. These products are handy and lightweight with only 2.50 kg and can be installed on the ceiling.

Also, these products are eco-friendly and eco-smart. Stand-by power consumptions can be reduced by 90% and by 70% when turned on. This means Acer DLP projectors are good for the environment and for one’s budget.

Here are the specs for the Acer ES-12 and the X117H:

The Acer ES-12 is Acer’s prime model of the DLP projector.

X115aIt has a standard resolution of 800 x 600 and can be maximized to a supported 1920 x 1200 resolution. Acer’s DLP technology installed inside the ES-12 has 3000 lumens which can display brighter presentations. Despite brighter projection of images, the ES-12 maintains quality by also providing 1.07 billion colors and provide a contrast ratio of 20,000:1.

Meanwhile, Acer pushes its boundaries even further in the projector business with its newest X117H model.

x117haIt basically has the same baseline features of the ES-12 but delivers more brightness and vividness. The Acer ES-12 is priced at 18,999 Pesos.

“Two biggest highlight features of the X117H is its brightness and contrast ratio,” Kuo said. “It now has 3,600 brightness compared to the mainstream brightness of 3,200 Lumens and 20,000:1 contrast ratio compared to the mainstream contrast ratio,” she added.
