TOP ONE PROJECT or T.O.P. is finally out of the shell and they have an album to celebrate!
The 5-person all-male group, which was the product of GMA Network’s multi-platform boy band competition “To The Top” has just released digitally a 6-track album last April 28 on iTunes, Amazon and Deezer.
But it’s not completely an album without a physical form and so, GMA Records is putting the T.O.P. CDs on the racks of Astroplus, Astro Vision, Landmark, and all SM Music and Video outlets nationwide for only 199 Pesos. The self-titled album is also now available through www.lazada.com.
Here are T.O.P. inviting everyone to get a copy of their album:
Adrian Pascual (17), Joshua Jacobe (22), Louie Pedroso (20), Mico Cruz (21) and Miko Manguba (22) are living their dreams as they enter a new chapter in their very young lives as performers and now recording artists.
During a special blog conference held last Thursday at GMA Network, the group expressed their excitement with the release of their debut album.
TOP ONE PROJECT takes pride in coming out with a collection of straight OPM pop tunes that are all-original. The group reveals that they were hands-on with the whole album-making process from selecting the songs to the actual recording and song-editing process.
From doing covers, opening acts and performing at mall shows, T.O.P. is now more creatively involved in their chosen profession – would you believe that they’re writing their own songs as well. The group has actually written and co-written two songs in the album: SAN NA and KAYA KO, KAYA MO.
TOP ONE PROJECT attributes their newfound song-writing skill through a lecture given by Maestro Ryan Cayabyab. And they have learned the craft very well.
According to the group, Louie wrote most of the lyrics for the song SAN NA which took him overnight to finish but it was the collective effort of the group that gave life to a wonderful new sound three days after its conception.
Here are the tracks:
- San Na
- Kaya Ko, Kaya Mo
- Bakit Ganon
Here’s a LIVE a capella preview of all the songs in the album:
After listening to their unaccompanied version last Thursday, I think releasing an a capella of their songs would be a great idea too. All they need now is to learn some beatboxing.
All T.O.P. songs have the same fresh and upbeat pop sound. To describe it in one word – I’d probably use the word YOUNG! The tracks, like the band is something new, promising and very positive.
The carrier single PAG-GISING is still my favorite among the 6 tracks.
The design of the physical album is so retro 80’s pop with all the photos in black and white and a plastic CD casing that’s already considered very unusual nowadays. Don’t really understood the concept behind it but it does provide a refreshing contrast – old meets new, I guess?
Aside from doing album promotions and mall shows, TOP ONE PROJECT will also be part of a 7-week gig in GMA Network’s weekend variety show SUNDAY PINASAYA.
