Aside from taking selfies, probably the most fun people had with photos and cameras since last year is when FujiFilm re-introduced the instant camera to the Philippine market with INSTAX!
INSTAX is the great great great grand daughter of FujiFilm’s FOTORAMA or F Series Instant Cameras (1980) whose ancestral heritage is linked to the POLAROID cameras of the 1960s. The very first and larger INSTAX was first introduced in the 90s but it wasn’t until after the new millennium when the INSTAX has gotten smaller and a new type of film was created.
The latest among the INSTAX brands that are still currently in distribution are the mini 50s (6,999 pesos), mini 25 (4,999 pesos), mini 90 (7,999 pesos), mini 8 (3,699 pesos) and the INSTAX Wide (6,999 pesos). Add a little to the retail price and you get your INSTAX with a touch of Hello Kitty, Minnie Mouse and Mickey Mouse.

I recently got an INSTAX Mini 8 Yellow and here’s my daughter SKY doing the unboxing:
The INSTAX Mini 8 Box comes with a camera strap, 2 AA batteries and the instruction manuals. And the bubble wraps – Japanese folks really loves those bubble wraps! 🙂
The INSTAX Mini 8 has put the fun back in taking mini portraits. It comes in seven different delicious colors Yellow, White, Pink, Blue, Black, Raspberry and Grape.
- Batteries: AA-size x 2
- Shutter Speed: 1/60sec
- Dimensions/Weight: 116mm x 118.3mm x 68.2mm / 307g
The INSTAX Mini 8 uses a Fujifilm Instant Color Film “Instax Mini” which is priced at 360 pesos per box with 10 mini glossy films.
