Asgardians versus the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim!

This is the main plot of the latest THOR franchise directed by Alan Taylor.  The sequel was aptly titled as THOR: The Dark World that speaks not only about the place from where the Dark Elves has descended after the great battle before the dawn of the nine realms but also about the sinister plan of the vengeful Dark Elf Lord Malekith the Accursed (played by British actor Christopher Eccleston) to bring the whole universe back into darkness.  Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman returns as the Mighty Thunder God THOR and Jane Foster in this action-packed and often confusing follow-up to their worlds-apart love story.

I have to say that this is more amusing than the first one.  The dialogues are cleverly crafted and there are a lot of hilarious surprises courtesy mostly of the God of Mischief and THOR’s half-brother LOKI played by the awesome Tom Hiddleston and of course the really funny but lovely character of Jane’s assistant Darcy played by Kat Dennings.

Not to let the cat out of the bag for all you folks who haven’t watched the movie yet but you’ll see some wonderful cameo appearances – watch out for Chris Evans, Benicio Del Toro and of course and as always, Stan Lee.

THOR: The Dark World is a 4 out of 5 stars in my book!  And here’s why –

  • It seems that in this Film not a single character was labeled as a support.  Every single one has the same element of importance as the rest, even the newcomer Jonathan Howard who played Jane Foster’s intern Ian Boothby.  You also have to see Stellan Skarsgard who plays Prof. Erik Selvig in the movie go ALL THE WAY as in all the way naked!
  • A formidable foe in the character of Malekith The Accursed (Christopher Eccleston) and his right hand Elf Algrim the Kurse (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) and their scary dark elves army that possessed a more advanced warfare technology than the Asgardians and of course the devastating power of the AETHER.

  • See them all in action!  All four of THOR’s friends SIF (Jaimie Alexander), FANDHAL (Zachary Levi), VOLSTAGG (Ray Stevenson), HOGUN (Tadanobu Asano) in battle at the nine realms.  HEIMDALL (Idris Elba) who will bring down a ship with his bare hands and a skillful knife-swinging FRIGGA (Rene Russo), wife of Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and mother of Thor and Loki.  The fight scene between Frigga and Malekith is something that you wouldn’t want to miss.

  • But this movie wouldn’t be complete without LOKI.  The character of LOKI here is truly amazing.  Brilliantly conceptualized and Hiddleston’s portrayal of the role is truly magnificent.  This is the only villain that you’ll really grow to love!  A real trickster!
  • Watch out also for the ticklers at the end credits!  There are two that you’ll have to wait for.  The other one confirms all rumors about the next marvel film ‘Guardians of the Galaxy,’ the other one you’ll have to see for yourself.

Overall this movie is really super awesome!  A THORriffic sequel!  It’s a PORTAL COMBAT to the finish!
