Thea Tolentino and Jeric Gonzales

THEA TOLENTINO or 17 years old Thea Louise Senerez Tolentino of Laguna is one of the winners of the second season of GMA Network’s ‘artista’ search PROTEGE: The Battle for the Big Artista Break.

After winning the reality game show, GMA signed her together with the other winners to GMA Artist Center and has appeared in shows like TeenGen (as Angge), Love and Lies (as Marissa) and Anna Karenina (as the scheming Angel).  And now she’s back again but this time gaining more trust and confidence from GMA network as she clinched the lead role of new afternoon teleserye PYRA BABAENG APOY opposite fellow Protege Season 2 winner JERIC GONZALES (Jeffrey).

The two lead stars of PYRA appeared together last Tuesday in a special BlogCon with fellow Protege finalists ELLE RAMIREZ and ZANDRA SUMMERS who are also on the show.  Elle plays the role of Cindy, Pyra’s antagonist while Zandra as Pyra’s best friend Ena.

PYRA has been doing well in the ratings game since it started and Thea said during the conference that she’s very much relieved to know that all their concerted efforts are paying off.

The show is also somewhat like a reunion for the four (4) Protege Season 2 finalists, Thea said that PYRA is just like Protege only on a different plane.  There is still some healthy competition going on among the four of them on the set but it’s because they all want to give their very best to make the show a success.

Here is a video of Thea and Jeric performing a song number live during the BlogCon:

PYRA is also Elle Ramirez’s first ‘kontrabida’ role and her biggest break in showbiz so far.  She said that she’s not afraid to be labeled or type-casted as a ‘teleserye’ villain  but also believes that she can be versatile to portray any other roles that will given to her.

On the other hand, we learned that cebuana cutie Zandra Summers has joined several beauty contests prior to joining GMA’s Protege.  A lot of people are saying that she has some facial features that are similar to actress and now reigning MISS WORLD 2013 Megan Lynne Young.  She however said, that although she feels really flattered to be compared to the beauty queen, she also wanted to be known as Zandra and not a beauty queen look-a-like.  She also said that she’s concentrating with her showbiz career as of this moment and joining beauty pageants is not on the agenda – not yet.
