Kapuso actress JOYCE CHING or Joyce Giselle Palad Ching who just turned 18 this year will play the role of NINA in the remake of GMA’s drama series ANNA KARENINA.
She made a number of ‘young counterpart’ roles in GMA shows when starting out in showbiz and was even nominated at the 28th PMPC Awards for her performance in the film Tween Academy: Class of 2012.
Before doing Indio, she was with the main cast of PAROA as Becca together with her co-star in the new Anna Karenina series, Barbie Forteza. Her portrayal of the character of Michelle Perez in Magpakailanman’s Ang Pakawalang Anghel was critically acclaimed as her breakthrough to more mature and serious roles. ANNA KARENINA is Joyce’s first lead role in a primetime drama series.
Last Tuesday and while having lunch at Singapore Food Republic, together with the two other main cast of the new GMA show – Barbie Forteza and Krystal Reyes, Joyce shared some of her experiences in making ANNA KARENINA.
Like the other stars of the show, Joyce was not able to see any clips of the original series. Her role Nina was originally played by Kim Delos Santos in the 90’s successful weekend drama special. One of the main difference between the original and the remake is the viewing schedule. The new Anna Karenina will be shown on primetime, mondays to fridays right after 24 Oras beginning June 3.
Joyce describes her role Nina:
“Si Nina ay sobrang bitter, punong-puno ng galit ang damdamin niya dahil sa mga nangyari sa kanya. One thing that they will learn from my character as Nina is the negative effects and consequences of being bitter and ungrateful.”
Here’s Joyce Ching inviting everyone to watch Anna Karenina:
