MUST BE LOVE is set to launch on Wednesday (March 13) and Direk Diosdado “Dado” Lumibao is overflowing with excitement and a little bit of tension because the movie is not only the debut movie of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla but also his first full-length mainstream movie.

Direk Dado is also the director of the ABS CBN primetime hit series “Princess and I.”  So this is not the first time that he worked together with the famous KathNiel tandem since they were also the series’ main cast.  But Direk Dado assures the public that they will see a different Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla in the movie – different from the roles that they play in “Princess and I.”

According to Direk Dado, it was not only the characters of Kathryn and Daniel that transformed, but they themselves as actors.

“Nakita ko ‘yung transformation ni Kathryn as an actress.

Despite the transformation in their depth in acting, nothing changed about the extraordinary onscreen magic of the KathNiel love team.

“Must Be…Love” is a romantic movie filled with romance and a feel-good story that conveys the statement, ‘Be True To Yourself.’

In an interview last week, Direk Dado and writer Melai Monge said that they wanted to explore new situations for the movie that no other ROMCOM film has ever done before.

“With regards to the milieu, we became interested with the hair and make-up world and a lechon house.  We wonder on what stories could we possibly get from the two places. Then we added a best friend story situationer, what if gusto mo yung best friend mo tapos nasabi mo pero binawi mo rin after, ano mangyayari after that.”  Melai said.

Direk Dado then explained why title the movie – MUST BE LOVE.

“Bakit must be love?  Kasi it answers most, if not all of the basic premise of the movie’s story and it applies not only to the love story between Patchot (Kathryn) and Ivan (Daniel) but to all the characters in the film.  ‘If you’re always the baby what does it take to become a lady ?’ – it must be love.  ‘Why does a parent does everything for a child?’ – it must be love.  ‘Why will all the fans of the KathNiel love team see the movie on March 13?’ – it must be love.”

Here are some other things that you should know about the movie:
  • The Must Be Love story is specifically written for the KathNiel love team.
  • The movie was scheduled for a 20-day shoot but it lasted for 27 shooting days.
  • 60% of the shoot were done in Cebu while the rest they did in Laguna.
