Kapuso actor and former StarStruck 2nd prince, ROCCO NACINO said in a pocket interview held at the GMA Center last November 19 (Monday) that he deeply appreciates his role in new afternoon drama teleserye YESTERDAY’S BRIDE opposite Lovi Poe.
It took almost two years to find the right project for the re-teaming up of the Lovi-Rocco tandem, both of whom are belonging to the GMA Artist Center stable of talents. But it’s worth the wait as the series has been earning positive reactions from critics and fans. Rocco, who previously acted with Kylie Padilla in the “Good Daughter,” is being noted for his convincing portrayal of the rich-good boy leading man figure.
His role as Justin Ramirez in Yesterday’s Bride however, is his first mature role and he admits that it is a very challenging role for him and he likes it.
Yesterday’s Bride is an afternoon soap directed by Gil Tejada, Jr. that premieres last October 29 with lead stars Lovi Poe (Andrea), Luis Alandy (Dr. Celso Agustin), supported by Ara Mina, Mark Bautista, Karel Marquez and Emilio Garcia.
The story revolves around the love story of Andrea and Justin and a tragedy that will cause Andrea to lose all her memories about Justin. Andrea falls in love with Celso, but finds herself in a dilemma when she recovers her memory and that of the groom she is supposed to marry.
Rocco Nacino have landed on five (5) lead roles already since he started his career as an actor and this was attributed to his past awesome performances in Cinemalaya’s Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa where he won two awards as Breakthrough Performance and New Actor, the soaps – Koreana and The Good Daughter.
The young actor seems to be a favorite also of the GMA News Team where he was chosen to play roles in their specials as Jose Rizal in PLUMA: Rizal, Ang Dakilang Manunulat and last Month’s Beato Pedro Calungsod where he played the role as the 2nd filipino Saint.
He is a Born Again Christian but he was very thankful that he was chosen by GMA News TV to play the role.
The screening of his other movie I Love You, Pare Ko was postponed to February next year. Rocco also said that this will be his last gay role in a film. He’d like to venture out in doing other roles but his dream role is actually something that involves action and drama.
“Kung gagawa ang GMA Films ng isang big time action movie at makakasama ako, talagang pagbubutihin ko kasi yun ang gusto ko talaga na mga role.” Rocco said.
Rocco was supposed to be part of the GMA Epic Fantaserye INDIO which stars Sen. Ramon ‘Bong’ Revilla, Jr. however, he chose to do Yesterday’s Bride instead. He was supposed to be partnered with rumored girlfriend Sheena Hallili in the fantaserye.
Speaking of Rocco’s relationship with Sheena Hallili, the young actor said that although they were dating – the relationship is still ‘unofficial’ and ‘open.’ The actor did say that they’re really very very close although they don’t see much of each other these past few weeks because of work schedules.
Rocco and Sheena first met on the stage of the sitcom Kaya Ng Powers.Rocco Nacino is also a Registered Nurse (RN) by profession and said that when his time in Show Business is done, he plans to pursue the medical field as a Pedia even at a later age. He studied nursing at Mapua Institute of Technology and plans to study Medicine in UST someday if given the opportunity.
“Na miss ko ang pagiging nurse ko, actually sa set ng Yesterday’s Bride dun sa part ng naaksidente si Lovi, na practice ko yung pagiging nurse ko habang inaalagaan ko s’ya sa ospital.” Rocco said.
Rocco also said that if he had the time, he would like to offer his services and volunteer at a public hospital even for a short time because he really misses nursing.
Right now, Rocco is very much excited for the expansion of his Boxing Gym business in Home Depot, Ortigas with five other partners including Eri Neeman (Boy Back-up of Bubble Gum).
