Kapuso ALDEN RICHARDS qualified as one of the latest showbiz success this year with the triumph of his love team-up with Louise Delos Reyes in ONE TRUE LOVE.   The series which has captured the hearts of many Filipinos  ended last October 5 but is now enjoying a special re-run due to public demand.  It airs weekday mornings on GMA.

ALDEN told rainCHECK during a special pocket interview last October 29 at GMA, that the special run of One True Love will have a totally different ending from the original run.  All the more reason for One True Love fans to view the series again.  Taping for the alternate ending starts in a Month.

According to Alden Richards, the success of the Alden-Louise team-up may be attributed to a very organic relationship.

“Louise and I are really good friends, we understand each other in some ways na kami lang ang nagkakaintindihan.  We were already good friends before this project.  And I think that’s the secret.  Our chemistry is not forced we just clicked.  My advice to other love teams, don’t force it if it’s not you and maintain professionalism always kasi hindi lalabas yung natural at hindi magiging maganda ang effect in and out of camera ‘pag pilit.”  He explained.

I asked Alden about Louise and the things that he discovered about her partner that are really admirable and he said,

“Louise is a very passionate actress, she’s God-fearing like myself and a very humble, down-to-earth person.  You can really see the care in her especially for her family.”

What did Alden Richards discovered about himself during the course of the drama project?

“Na discover ko na marunong pala ako umiyak sa eksena.  I play the role of Tisoy in One True Love.  People used to call me by that name (Tisoy) when I was younger.  My mom especially.  But aside from having the same nick name, my character in One True Love is really very different from my own.  But if there’s two things that I’ve learned from my workshop with Direk Maryo J Delos Reyes prior to making this series is that one, a good actor adjusts well with the character that was given to him and two, everything must come from a relax state of mind.  Be it with acting or in real life situations.  And of course, I always ask for God’s guidance and strength in everything.”

It was a tough climb for Alden as he fought with rejections before GMA Artist Center saw his potential and gave him the right projects. Prior to experiencing success, he missed the cut for Starstruck in 2009.  Things turned around when he signed a five-year contract with GMAAC in 2010 and was launched as part of the cast of “Alakdana” co-starring of course his ‘screen other half’ Louise.

Last year he joined “Tween Hearts” on TV and the big screen. But it was his acting on the horror movie “The Road” that made heads turn. In the movie he played a cold-blooded psychopath as his effective under-acting made film critics hail him.

He was declared “Amazing Male Newcomer” by Yahoo OMG Awards and was announced “Best New Actor” at the Golden Screen Awards” for his role in THE ROAD.  He was also chosen by Mega Magazine as one of GMA-7’s rising talents last July.

Alden Richards is also blessed with several brand endorsements like Belo, MyPhone, Intel (with Louise), head and shoulders and F&H.

Because of his boy-next-door appeal and convincing acting talent, he has been tagged as the Kapuso network’s version of John Lloyd Cruz.

“Idol ko talaga si John Lloyd Cruz.  I consider him as one of my major influences in terms of acting styles.  I haven’t had the chance to meet him in person yet and I am hoping to be able to do a project with him in the future.”

Alden Richards is also very vocal about his admiration for fellow kapuso talent DingDong Dantes.

“Dingdong is a very good friend, we became good friends right after My Beloved.  I look up to him as a friend, as an actor and as a person.  He has a lot of good qualities that I would like to emulate – mga good qualities na nabaon ko up to now like his devotion to his craft (acting) and on making a good impression always.”

What’s next for ALDEN RICHARDS?

Alden has two Metro Manila Film Festival Cameo projects this year.  He will star on a “Pa-Pogi” role (As Alden puts it) in the GMA Film Sosy Problem and will also be part of “Si Agimat, Si Enteng, at Ako” which stars Senator Bong Revilla, Vic Sotto and Judy Anne Santos.

He will also play as a young Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr. in the GMA Epic Fantaserye INDIO opposite love interest Bea Binene.  INDIO will be an all-star cast ‘generational’ primetime series that is set for release next year.  Its story revolves around the life and struggles of a demi-God (half-God, half-mortal) called INDIO.  Among the big stars that will appear in the fantaserye are Rhian Ramos, Maxene Magalona and Agot Isidro.

Aside from INDIO, Alden also announced that he’s also scheduled to do another primetime project with Louise Delos Reyes by March, next year.

Things are really doing great with the young Kapuso actor who hates skinny jeans and also says no to nudity or nude scenes and project.  But he’s not closing his doors to daring scenes and when asked how far he would go with nudity, he said “underwear scenes or pictorials but maybe two to three years from now.”

RainCHECK was able to interview Alden last July and in an article I’ve written about him ALDEN RICHARDS: Critically Acclaimed Kapuso Actor Offers All His Hard Work and Successes to His Mother and His Fanshe said that one of the things that he’d like to do aside from acting was hosting.  I asked him where is he now on this plan:

“I have spoken with Ms. Gigi of GMA Talk Shows and she asked me what kind of shows I am interested in hosting.  I told her that I had this fascination with supernatural and paranormal stuffs or anything that has to do with the unexplainable or beyond reality and rational explanation.  I would love to do a show where I can explore and look for evidences and truths about the the paranormal.  Nothing’s final yet though.”  Alden said.

Alden seems to be passionate about the paranormal, naturally the next question was, if he ever had a paranormal experience before.

“I don’t have an open third eye and I never had a horrific supernatural experience before.  But I really want to have one.  The closest I’ve had to a paranormal experience was when my mother died.  It was as if I could still feel her presence and then we had this experience where she would move things inside the house.’  He explained.

Alden’s interest and general understanding about the paranormal emanates from his fondness of watching scary movies, paranormal investigations and documentaries in youtube and also books.

“You see there are actually three levels of physical manifestations, the elementals which can be felt from our lower extremities, ghosts which are felt in the middle part of our bodies and demons which are felt in the upper part particularly our head, our mind and our thoughts.  Demons are very manipulative and very sensitive.  They can sense and hear our thoughts.”  He added.

Alden Richard’s fascination in the supernatural is very astonishing and I think a show that deals with stuffs like that would really be perfect for him.   Like he said, ‘everything will come out naturally’ for people who are  really very passionate about the subject.

Another side of Alden Richards that’s worth noting.
