When I first saw the emailed invitation, my first impression was – it’s a sweets or dessert shop. I was dead wrong because SugarLeaf is a one-stop-shop for healthy and organic food and supplies.
I was a few minutes late, Mr. Angelo Narciso Songco, co-owner and head of marketing and business development was already giving an orientation about the store when I arrived at the place and the food were already on the table.
According to Mr. Songco, Sugarleaf pertains to stevia, a plant whose leaves possess an intense sweetening capability. Though somewhat controversial in its earlier years, stevia is totally safe and is highly regarded because it has anti-oxidant properties, has zero calories, and doesn’t affect blood sugar levels.
Sugarleaf imbibes sweetness, happy thoughts and feelings linked with healthy living and organic lifestyle.
Sugarleaf debuts at the ground floor of the Health Cube Building along Wilson Street in San Juan and now, they have a Makati branch at MEDICard Lifestyle Center at 51 Paseo de Roxas corner Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue, Urdaneta Village, Makati City.
Also served was a very generous serving of Fettucini Pasta in Pesto topped with Mango, Veggie Sandwiches and Veggie Goody Wraps.
Our meal was made extra special with a special all-natural Strawberry Smoothie, Cashew Sans Rival and two scoops of coco kefir ice cream.
The food really tastes great – I love the wraps and the sandwiches. Great tasting food plus it’s healthy. 🙂
Living up to its mission of providing “foods that nourish” Sugarleaf features Healthy Picks, a mini-mart of locally-sourced organic produce (fruits, vegetables and herbs) from the LaTOP (La Trinidad Organic Practitioners) Multi-purpose Cooperative farmers.
Aside from vegetables, Sugarleaf offers a wide variety of natural, organically produced goods. It is meant to be a one-stop-shop for healthy food finds including free-range chicken, eggs, pork, kefir milk, yogurt, kambucha, carabao and cow’s milk, organic highland coffee and rice, non-GMO tofu, natural sweeteners (coco sugar, stevia, coco nectar), home-made dips and dressings, air-dried tea, among others.
Organic products that are not locally available may be sourced out. Available on a per order prior notice basis are: organic chia seeds, organic maca, kelp noodles and much more.
After the healthy lunch, SugarLeaf Makati sponsored a special orientation on how to live and eat healthy featuring partners Suchero The Low Glycemic All-Natural Sweetener, Mattstone makers of the multi-purpose juice extractor, Health Is In a preventive wellness advocate company that carries super oxygen machine Bi-O3 Klenz and also a representative from the Organic Certification Company in the Philippines (OCCP).
