1014400_752376568125576_1072673372_nKapuso Primetime Queen MARIAN RIVERA partners with young heartthrob ALDEN RICHARDS in new GMA Primetime Series CARMELA: ANG PINAKAMAGANDANG BABAE SA MUNDONG IBABAW.

I recently attended an exclusive preview of the pilot episodes of CARMELA and found the new series to be an artistically motivated TV production.  All the scenes are so visually alluring.  The initial plot has some similarities to traditional Filipino soaps but the GMA Creative Team promises a very different and non-traditional approach in the presentation of the story of CARMELA.

In a nutshell, the story of CARMELA is about the blessing as well as the curse of beauty.  It is about finding true love and life’s unpredictable consequences.  It is about the pain of revenge and achieving peace of mind.

“Ang CARMELA ay story ng isang babae na yung ganda niya, instead na maging asset ay naging isang liability.  Yung mga tao na nakapaligid sa kaniya ay ni-rereduce ang pagkatao niya bilang isang sex object lang.”  said the GMA Creative Team

The story also explores heavily on traditional folklore and Director DOMINIC ZAPATA is very successful in presenting the detailed beauty of every scene.  The emotion on every frame is adeptly captured and that adds a lot of artistic sense and flavor to the over-all quality of the production.  To give you some idea of what I am talking about, here are some of the items worth watching for during the pilot episodes – take note of these items and find out their significance in the story of CARMELA .

  • Lumang Piso
  • Krus na Kahoy
  • Nunal sa Balikat
  • Puting Bigas
  • Tamis-Asim na Dalandan
  • 1992
  • Catarena

Also worth mentioning, some of the scenes in the Pilot episodes were shot in the picturesque and serene beauty of Baclaran Church or the Our Mother of Perpetual Help National Shrine.  It perfectly staged the setting of the series’ pilot episodes which is centered on the character of Carmela’s mother Amanda (played by Agot Isidro) who in search of a better life found her angel Danilo (played by Ricky Davao) and with it the devil as well in the person of Fernando (played by Roi Vinzon).

The pacing of the scenes is fascinating.  There were no dragging moments and every scene is important to the next one – so no bathroom breaks.

I would also like to say that after seeing the full trailer of the series, all I can say is that ALDEN and MARIAN are a perfect match.  And fans of both actors would be glad to know that there are going to be a lot of kilig moments between the two – especially that one inside the LRT.

  • Marian Rivera as Carmela
  • Alden Richards as Yago
  • Agot Isidro as Amanda
  • Ricky Davao as Danilo
  • Mona Louise Rey as Young Carmela
  • Roi Vinson as Fernando
  • Laurice Guillen as Fides
  • Freddie Webb as Ramon
  • Rochelle Pangilinan as Yolly
  • Raymond Bagatsing as Dante
  • Jennica Garcia as Alice
  • Eva Darren as Wagay
  • Ana Feleo as Nilda
  • Krystal Reyes as Janine/Camille
  • RJ Padilla as JP
  • Barbara Miguel as Erra

Kapuso Primetime Queen MARIAN RIVERA joins Kapamilya Comedy Queen AIAI DELAS ALAS in Star Cinema’s latest movie offering – KUNG FU DIVAS.

Marian Rivera became a household name after being casted as the lead role in GMA Network’s pinoy adaptation of the mexican tele-novela MARIMAR.  She is also known for her roles in the TV series DYESEBEL, DARNA and AMAYA.  In an interview last week, 29 years old Marian Rivera tells us her experiences and the reason why she decided to do Kung Fu Divas.

This movie holds a couple of firsts in local entertainment history:

  • This is Marian Rivera’s first film project with Star Cinema
  • This is the first time for Marian Rivera and AiAi Delas Alas to do a project together
  • This is the first full length film of director Onat Diaz
  • Kung Fu Divas is the first movie that Marian Rivera has co-produced

However, this is not the first time that Marian Rivera has entered the ABS-CBN camp.  Did you know that, Marian or MARIAN GRACIA RIVERA did her college OJT at ABS-CBN?

What made you say yes to Kung Fu Divas?

This is my first time as a co-producer, napakalaki ng tiwala ko sa pelikula na ito at talagang nakaka-proud.  When Direk Onat presented the concept of the film, nung una parang malabo at mahirap gawin pero maganda yung kwento n’ya kaya sige lang. In fairness, nagagawa pala.

Highlights of the Film?

We did some martial arts training for this film, may mga eksena na naka-harness kami dito at medyo mahirap yung mga pinag-gagawa namin dun.

Since Marian is already producing movies right now, we asked her if she and Dingdong might co-produce one in the near future, and she said:

“Why not, basta mas malaki ang kanya. (laughs)”

On Star Cinema

Is there a chance for Marian to do another movie again for Star Cinema?

Why not? Wish ko din more pa with regal also.

The first thing that the press asked Richard Gutierrez and Marian Rivera during the MY LADY BOSS media conference last Tuesday was their kissing scenes in the movie.  The hot and steamy scenes in GMA Films and Regal Entertainment’s newest RomCom is obviously a hot item issue since the two are both in a steady relationship and this is their second movie together after My Bestfriend’s Girlfriend five years ago.

Richard admits the strong attraction he has towards Marian.  He has taken notice of the then budding actress from the very day they first met at a GMA network studio.

“Alam kong lalaki ang pangalan niya bilang artista.  She’s definitely a looker and she’s a big star now.  Pero hindi pa din siya nagbago.  She’s still the same Marian na una kong nakapareha sa BFGF.  Ang nakakatuwa sa kanya, kahit ilang oras lang ang tulog, fresh na fresh pa rin ang dating.  Ang sarap niyang kasama sa shooting.  Very funny at game!”

Marian on the other hand, finds Richard’s charisma too strong to resist.  She was very vocal about her admiration for her screen partner’s work ethic.  In fact, Richard is one of the few actors Marian has agreed to a kissing scene.

“Dumarating naman tayo sa puntong nagma-mature.  Ibang atake kasi ang ginawa namin sa kissing scene na yon.  Siyempre parte ng trabaho yun bilang artista.  Saka guwapo naman si Chard at hindi nananamantala.  Yes, exception si Chard sa mga lalaking gusto kong makahalikan sa screen.”  Marian said.

Chard and Yan Yan has loads of kissing scenes in the movie.  Some are cute kisses others are intense and passionate.  But aside from the steamy scenes, MY LADY BOSS is set to make blockbuster headlines with its catchy plot set in the highly competitive corporate environment.  If you think their kissing scenes are hot, then check out their ego fight scenes in the movie.  A movie about Money, Power and Love.

Zombadings director JADE CASTRO directs this one of a kind RomCom.  Showing in theaters on April 10.

My-Lady-BossThis coming April 10, all HELL will break lose as GMA Films and Regal Entertainment presents MARIAN RIVERA (Hell Queen Evelyn) and RICHARD GUTIERREZ (Prettyboy Bankrupt Zach) in MY LADY BOSS.

It’s going to be a battle of will, love, lust for power and money between the two screen giants as they portray conflicting roles in what the press is calling as the biggest romantic-comedy comeback tandem of the year.  Richard and Marian first teamed-up five years ago for the movie “My Bestfriend’s Girlfriend” which sealed Marian Rivera’s name to stardom as one of the hottest young actress of GMA.

MY LADY BOSS is the story of two corporate devils who will slug it out and do every tricks in the book to be the first to claim ultimate success.  Richard plays Zach, who’s fate was decided by his ultra rich grand father after the young businessman loses all his business money and ends up in prison.  Zach’s sentence is to find a decent jod and to work for one year and hopefully to learn from his experiences as an employee.  Marian plays Evelyn who’s ambition is greater than everyone else’s and her love for self exceeds all other priorities.  She will be Zach’s boss in the story.  Will they give in to ambition or will love over-power their goals?577501_589548307739247_2029262477_n

Whatever the case, this will be an exciting movie to watch as it promises more hot and steamy romance coinciding with fierce corporate power struggles.

During the movie’s press conference, Marian and Richard suggests viewers to buckle-up because MY LADY BOSS is going to be one hell of a roller coaster ride.

Marian Rivera FHM January 2013 CoverKapuso royalty Richard Gutierrez admits that he was stunned by how bold and sexy his leading lady Marian Rivera looked in her recent pictorial for a popular men’s magazine, which reportedly was a sold-out issue.  According to reports, the magazine’s publishers had to do a reprint of the issue to fill in the demand for copies.

According to Richard, he saw Marian’s photos even before copies of the magazine became available in stores.  He even quipped that he was one of those who stamped the final seal of approval for its publication.

“Yung sa FHM nakita ko yung photo niya bago pa man lumabas yung magazine.  Pinakita niya sa akin – ang ganda!,” said Richard.

The actor also admitted that even before their first movie team-up, he has always been attracted to Marian’s beauty.

“Dati nga bago pa siya mag-Marimar, nakasalubong ko si Marian sa S.O.P. pa yata nun sa back stage tapos sabi ko sa kanya, ‘Ang blooming mo ngayon ah!’  So, dati pa, napapansin ko na talaga yung ganda ni Marian,” he said.

After their successful movie tie-up in 2008 (“My Best Friend’s Girlfriend”), Richard and Marian are again working together for their next big project set to hit silver screens nationwide within the first quarter of the year — “My Lady Boss.”

The movie is a joint production of GMA Films and Regal Films and is directed by Jade Castro, director of “My Kontrabida Girl” and the highly-acclaimed independent film, “Zombadings,” which became so successful that it effortlessly made its way to the mainstream market.marianrivera-fhmjan2013-picture1

With regard to his working relationship with Marian, Richard said that their friendship has blossomed a lot more since the “My Best Friend’s Girlfriend” days.  In fact, both actors have become very comfortable with each other that it didn’t feel awkward when they did their kissing scenes in “My Lady Boss.”

“Dati kasi nung ginawa namin ‘yong ‘My BFGF,’ parang kakastart lang ng ‘Marimar’ so I can say na medyo bago pa si Marian nung mga time na ‘yon.  Ngayon, makikita mo talaga na malaki na ‘yong growth niya as an actress; mas confident siya, yung comic timing niya pasok na pasok talaga,” Richard explained.

Apart from the intimate kissing scenes, the two will also do a bed scene, which is a quite a giant leap from their “teeny-bopper” roles in their previous film.

“Romantic-comedy film pa rin [ang “My Lady Boss”] pero mas mature na ‘yong characters at ‘yong kuwento.  Sa ‘My BFGF’ kasi yung kiss namin doon smack lang, this time mas intimate na.  Marami kaming intimate scenes pero may comedy pa rin,” the actor said.

Before working on “My Lady Boss,” Richard did “Seduction,” which is a sexy-drama film.

“It’s very refreshing to do another rom-com after ‘Seduction,’ which is really intense, mabigat, deep into the character.  Ito [My Lady Boss], it’s entertaining, it’s light.  Ang sarap na makagawa ng isang ganitong movie ulit.  I was looking forward to this movie.  Dito kasi enjoy lang kami, nagpapatawa kami.  Although seryoso pa rin yung acting pero it’s lighter,” he said.

In “My Lady Boss,” Richard’s character, Zack, will fall in love with his female boss, Evelyn (Marian), who is detested by every one in the office because of her bad temper.  Eventually, their illicit office romance will put their careers in jeopardy eventually forcing them to make a choice between career and love.
