Got to see my first movie of the year with Tam and the Kids last January 5, 2012 (Thursday) at the Cinema 6 of SM Megamall. The Advance Philippine Screening of ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS 3: CHIPWRECKED.
CHIPWRECKED is the 3rd installment to the Alvin and the Chipmunks movie. Got to see the first two (2007 Alvin and the Chipmunks, 2009 Alvin and the Chipmunks 2:The Squeakquel) and couldn’t let the third one pass me by.
On vacation aboard a luxury cruise ship, Alvin, Simon, Theodore and the Chipettes are up to their usual antics, turning the ship into their personal playground, until they become ‘chipwrecked’ on a desert island. As Dave Seville frantically searches for the missing stars, the ‘Munks and Chipettes do what they do best – sing, dance and wreak havoc. But they’re in for the biggest surprises and lessons of their lives when they embark on an island adventure with their new friend – a castaway who’s more than a match for Alvin and the Chipmunks.
The film stars Jason Lee (Dave), David Cross (Ian), Justin Long (Alvin), Matthew Gray Gubler (Simon), Jesse McCartney (Theodore), Christina Applegate (Brittany), Anna Farris (Jeanette), Amy Poehler (Eleanor) and the newest addition to the cast, Saturday Night Live Star Jenny Slate as (Zoe).
Directed by MIKE MITCHELL (Shrek Forever After)
CHIPWRECKED was release in the US by 20th Century Fox last December 16, 2011 and will be shown in Philippine Cinemas starting January 8, 2012.
RAIN CHECKS ‘CHIPWRECKED’
Although this film got a much lower viewer response on its first showing date than the other two films. I think this third installment of the film was the most fun to view.
I’ve seen the reviews, and yes, people do get tired of seeing a bunch of talking and singing chipmunks on the wide screen but that wasn’t even the focus of the film this time. It was all fun, mischief and adventure. Story line is not original but the kids love the simplicity of the film.
Simon getting an accidental personality upgrade ’Simone’ – man that has got to be my favorite part of the film.
I wouldn’t judge this film for technical excellence and story – I would judge this as a kid who loves watching – talking and singing chipmunks.
One thing I’ve noticed about the film, and correct me if I am wrong, I think that the animation part is around 80% of the film in CHIPWRECKED which means more Chipmunks than live actors. And that’s the way we like it!
Over-all the kids love it. They didn’t fell asleep and they’re asking me to get a DVD copy of this one. However, the film’s DVD and Blu-ray is set for a March 27, 2012 release. So, they’ll have to wait. – This deserves a Signal No. 2 (Kids-Eye-View)
