I created rainCHECK with the intent of expressing all my ideas and experiences online.  When people ask me what my blog is all about I always tell them that this blog is personal (which puts it into a more understandable category in the online world) but I think that statement was a little redundant because it is my understanding that all blogs are personal.  It may have niches or it may be about everything just like mine but I think blogs gain its personality and character from the blogger or the author (and in some cases, the authors).

Essentially, the blog is a reflection of the blogger.  When I have the time, I love reading other people’s blog to discover more about the person who owns it.

And so, when I came upon this writing project called TOP 10 Emerging Influential Blogs of 2012, I became very interested and started to make a list of blogs that I’ve subscribed to and visit often.  The problem is, most of the blogs that I do follow are older than June 2011 which is one of the main criteria to be considered as an emerging blog.   So what I did was, I went through the list of qualified blogs on the site and then came up with this list: (click on the images to visit their sites)

Eccentric Yet Happy

She’s everywhere!  What can be more astonishing as reading through the pages of an eccentric life with the promise of happiness.  This blog tells you stories and wonderful POV on things that matters and sometimes things that don’t but she makes it sound so interesting.

foydi s Treasure Hunt

What can I say about this blog- it’s simply amazing.  Foydi makes treasure-hunting a little more down to earth.  It takes you on an inspiring journey of self discovery with sincere stories from the heart.

Gadget Gambit

Great gadget finds and reviews on the latest in tech toys and innovations! If you’re always on the look-out for what’s new and hot in the gadget market, it’s a must that you bookmark or follow this site.

Man from Manila here!  One of the pride of Manilenos is the walled city of Intramuros.  This site is more than the place – it’s all about the Filipino heritage and developing the Filipino pride.

Life After Breakfast

The title of this blog is really cool and it tells a lot about what kind of stories you’ll find inside.  I enjoy reading the experiences of people whose lives are so very different from mine and that’s what I call people leverage.  We can’t be in two or three places at once but in reading blogs like this one, I tend to become acquainted with a life that I won’t have the chance of experiencing.

MAG of My Life

A mommy blog and more.  Here’s a look at an unconventional life of a mommy blogger and her experiences with the things that she loves to do.

Music Republiq

Music is life!  And writing about music is making a chronicle of life itself.  This site gives you more than the usual music reviews and features.  It introduces readers to a whole range music genre and not just those that are popular.

Rappler is online news and commentaries.  If you want to know the things that matter right now – subscribe to this site.  This is better than the morning paper.

Anything and everything online.  Get the hottest trending topics and hot topics with Social Plus Magazine.

The Purple Doll

This site is not about toys as the name suggests.  This blog is all about food.  The purple doll makes everything look and taste yummy.

So yeah, that’s my TOP 10 Emerging and Influential Blogs for 2012.  And like I said, each carries its own personality with it and I think each one of them for giving their readers a lot of great read always.

The Filipino Bloggers Hub will have a simple acquaintance party on May 19, 2012 at the Central Colleges of the Philippines.

I was recently invited to the group just last week and I am very excited to meet the admins and the other members of the group who I have not had the honor of meeting yet.

Although I have been blogging my thoughts for the last 6 years it was just last year that I have been introduced to the other side of blogging which is more dynamic and exciting.

I have become a member of different blogging communities and support groups similar to the Filipino Bloggers Hub and have met a lot of awesome bloggers and blog sites.

I have learned and experienced a lot since then and quite frankly, it’s been a real thrill ride so far.  I have met a lot of cool people, tinker some wonderful products and have been to wonderful places.  The greatest part about it is that I now have a lot of things to blog about.  It’s a little exhausting sometimes but the experiences are all worth it.

The group Filipino Bloggers Hub is a group of Filipino Bloggers who aims to build a community of bloggers advocating free, fun and healthy blogging.  To write to express and not to impress as the main agenda and integrity as the principal value.

I am so grateful to the people who invited me to join this group and I wish all the members good health and more power to their blogs.

This coming 19th of May, the Filipino Bloggers Hub sent out invitations to the “Filipino Bloggers Hub Party” so that members will get a chance to see, meet and know everyone in the group.

The event is sponsored by Central Colleges of the Philippines, San Marino, Dianna Stalder, Human Nature,  Tiger Energy, Classic Savory, MedChef,   MEGA Publishing Group, OkayOkayGet Beauteous, Taste of Goodness, Tablets Mania

The 1st Bloggers Buffet at Carol’s Texan 5

June 23, 2010 (Thursday)

It was a RAIN or SHINE event for all the bloggers who went there.

Vance told me via SMS that there’s going to be a bloggers buffet sometime June organized by Ten Minutes Tops but I wasn’t able to join the promo.  It wasn’t because I never wanted to join, but because this area of blogging was all greek to me still.  RAINCHECK is more than three years old already but it remained to be just a personal blog.

When Vance told me that she’s going to invite me to join in, I said yes even if I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into.

We arrived at the CAROL’S TEXAN 5 around 6:30pm soaking wet because of the heavy rains and flooding.  We were greeted by event organizer and the person behind TEN MINUTE’S TOPS, Mr. Tristan Maharlika Mirasol.

Here’s a map of the place:

I was amazed to see the number of bloggers who came even if the weather outside was so erratic.  The discipline and dedication of these guys to their craft were so amazing.  They came in there in full battle gear for the event – and I didn’t even bring my Camera with me.  I was planning to bring my camera but I was all over Metro Manila since the early morning and I forgot to bring it with me when I went out. (So, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who took some photos of the event and shared it via FB – I took the liberty of downloading some of it for this post – I’ll just put the credits below)

Anyway, here’s Vance – she’s the one who invited me to this event and the blogger behind PURPLE PLUM FAIRY

And here’s yours truly posing on Carol’s Texan 5′s photo corner that you can see upon entering the store. You can dress up as a real cowboy or cowgirl complete with guns and the 10 gallon hats.

Here’s our host Tristan with store owner CAROL CHAN introducing Carol’s Texan 5 to the guests.  She started out cooking meals for Call Centers but her love for all-american food was the one that urged her to set up the store in 2008.

What does 5 mean in the name ‘Carol’s Texan 5′?

Well, it’s the 5 specialty dishes that the restaurant offers to all their guests: 1) Dynamite Wings, 2) BBQ Ribs, 3) Roast Beef, 4) Fish n’ Fries, and 5) Tomato Basil Pasta

I personally recommend their mouth-watering BBQ Ribs.  My taste buds tells me that it’s the best tasting ribs I’ve ever tasted yet.  The Pasta is superb – if you love basil on your pasta, you’ll sure to enjoy this one.  Over-all, I give Carol’s Texan 5 dishes a 9 out of 10 rating.  Bring your friends at Carol’s Texan 5, they’ll sure to enjoy the all-american ambiance and wonderful dishes that only Carol can serve you.

The first-ever blogger’s buffet at Carol’s Texan 5 was organized by Blogger’s Buffet, Ten Minutes Tops and Club Travel Now.  It was co-sponsored by Fern C, Cliq Manila, Photo Baloons, Magnolia, San Miguel, Cignal and Coca Cola.

Special Thanks to Tristan Mirasol, Jayson Biadog, Ning Buning, Vance Madrid and Bedalyn Aguas for the photos I’ve used here in this post.
