Designed for commercial light duty vehicles such as pickups and trucks, Pilipinas Shell introduced Shell Rimula Light Duty Range, the newest addition to the company’s line of premium lubricants.
The new product was unveiled yesterday at the PhilBus Truck Expo in SMX Convention Center MOA gathering e-commerce and logistics expert Jesli Gloria, Transportify Senior Manager for Sales Operations; Martin Cu, Ninja Van Philippines Country Head; and Gorge Royeca, Angkas Head of Regulatory and Public Affairs.
Joining them in the panel are DJ Javier, Technical Manager for PH Lubes of Pilipinas Shell, Al Silva, Product Application Specialist of Shell Global Lubricants, and Fintech Philippines Association’s Amor Maclang who hosted the short forum.
According to the panelists, online platforms such as Shopee and Lazada have pushed the Philippines’ e-commerce industry to grow exponentially in the last couple of years. This increasing customer demand and supply entails the need for more functional logistics solutions.
“The rise of e-commerce globally has resulted in a similar growth in logistics operations as a crucial element that ensures products bought from online platforms are delivered to their buyers quickly and in excellent condition,” Shell Lubricants Marketing Manager Anthony Wee said. “This is where light duty vehicles come in – they provide that crucial service of delivering products to their buyers.”
Shell disclosed that certain conditions in driving light duty trucks must also be addressed, such as constant stopping and starting which causes sludge to build up and more wear on engine parts.
Another problem associated with light duty trucks is a condition called “high engine idle” which results from slow movement as they usually operates in and around the busiest urban areas.
And with the high demand of online businesses, light duty trucks are oftentimes forced to overload to maximize time and revenue.
Shell Rimula Brand Manager Recca Menchavez highlighted two important characteristics of the new Shell Rimula Light Duty Range that makes it a perfect companion to light duty trucks.
60% Better Wear Protection
When an engine gets stuck in traffic, the Dynamic Protection Plus Technology of Shell Rimula Light Duty protects against engine wear and tear caused by constant stopping and starting with 60% better wear protection. It also has anti-oxidation components that prolong oil life.
46% Less Carbon Deposits
Dispersants in the additive package also help break down soot and deposit build up for vehicles carrying variable loads. The same Dynamic Protection Plus Technology improves engine cleanliness, emitting 46% less carbon deposits.
The new Shell Rimula Light Duty Range will be available in 1-liter container and 7.5-liter pails and is expected to come out in Shell retail outlets in the Philippines this August.
