Former Orange and Lemons and Kenyo front man Mcoy Fundales takes a break from writing scripts for TV shows and goes back to where he started – making music.

In an intimate media event last week organized by new music label AltG Records and GMA Network, Mcoy launches his return to the recording studios with “Bakit Kita Hahabulin” after an 8-year hiatus.

The song described as a modern kundiman is composed by Kian Dionisio. According to Mcoy, Kian was able to capture his attention because of the many feelings conveyed by the song’s lyrics.

“Namiss ko rin kumanta. My last album was in 2010 so that’s almost 9 years na. i’m happy and excited kasi for almost 5 to 6 years nagsusulat ako for TV, at ngayon, nagre-record na ako ulit ng mga kanta, ” says the singer-songwriter.

Also a writer and producer for GMA Network’s various shows including Pepito Manaloto and StarStruck, Mcoy says he sees music as a “dessert” or a “wonderful break” from writing.

“This is my hobby, what I always wanted. Itong pagkanta kasi mahal ko at gusto kong gawin. I’m excited to promote the single.”

Coinciding with the media conference last Friday is also the launch of the official musiic video for Mcoy’s “Bakit Kita Hahabulin” which can be described as a serious story-telling with an awesome “kick” at the end.

Mcoy has been active in the entertainment scene since 1999 and has been part of the creation of 5 studio albums and popular songs like “Umuwi Ka Na Baby” and the PBB Theme song “Pinoy Ako”.

Bakit Kita Hahabulin is now available on Apple Music, iTunes, Spotify and other digital stores worldwide.
