Drei Raña may not be the first musician who started doing covers online but this promising young singer/songwriter has his own path to conquer.
From posting acoustic covers that gained millions of views each to working on his own music, Drei Raña has more than just the perfect name for pop stardom but a talent to succeed.
Drei took a big break of his musical career when he signed with PolyEast Records recently, joining roster of talents like Martin Nievera, Bamboo, Glaiza de Castro, TJ Monterde, Juan Miguel Severo and Sassa Dagdag.
In March 2018, Drei released his first-ever single called “Ligaya”. The song was composed by Drei himself and showed his ability to write songs that connect with listener, which even gained 3M streams on Spotify.
Since releasing his debut single with PolyEast Records, Drei’s success and maturity as an artist has grown by leaps and bounds. Drei’s new single, “Walang Labis, Walang Kulang” marks another chapter in the 23-year-old musician’s career, as PolyEast Records will be dropping its official music video soon. Walang Labis, Walang Kulang lyric video is now also on YouTube.
“This phase of my career will be a big challenge for me. I have always been known as doing covers online but this time, I’m taking this game to a new level with original compositions,” he said.
Nearly 57K YouTube subscribers and 620K Facebook followers, Drei initially performed and uploaded songs online when he was 19. One of his well-received works is the popular song titled “Your Song,” a cover from the band Parokya Ni Edgar done in raw guitar playing skills. Later, Drei caught the attention of the well-known Filipino talk show host Boy Abunda who adopted Drei under his artist management agency.
Drei is a graduate of the University of Santo Tomas where he took up BS Travel Management. He also became Mr. Tourism and Mr. UST in the year 2016. Aside from writing songs or singing with his guitar, he also enjoys cooking, beatboxing and dancing.
