Martin Del Rosario said that one of the realizations he had while playing the role of Barbs in Born Beautiful is that everyone deserves to love and be loved.

Born Beautiful is the most-awaited sequel to the critically-acclaimed and breakthrough 2016 film of directors Jun Robles Lana and Perci Intalan – Die Beautiful.

The movie follows the life of Barbs and her journey towards self-discovery. After Trisha’s (Paolo Ballesteros) death, she continues to join beauty pageants and becomes torn between two men. But complications arise and she finds herself trying to transition into becoming a man.

Martin, during the media conference held earlier at Pudarak Chicken Timog, described Born Beautiful as a more mature and meatier take on the franchise.

“Kung ang Die Beautiful ay elementary ang Born Beautiful ay High School,” Martin explained.

Barbs was originally played by Christian Bables in Die Beautiful. Martin said during the interview that taking the role was a welcomed challenge but a challenge nevertheless. He’s not too much concern about how fans of the first film will react with his version of Barbs.

Martin told online media that he is 100% committed to the role from the painful waxing experience to the highly charged kissing scenes with Kiko Matos and Akihiro Blanco.

Speaking of kissing scenes, Martin differentiates the types of kiss that she got from his two leading men. With Kiko it was more primal and physical while with Akihiro it was more passionate and gentle.

When asked about the difference between kissing a man from a woman, Martin said that it’s just the same.

Martin Del Rosario is a Kapuso artist since 2014 and has starred in various top rating series such as Buena Familia, Pinulot Ka Lang Sa Lupa, Mulawin Vs. Ravena and Hindi Ko Kayang Iwan Ka.

Born Beautiful will continue the “beautiful” saga starting January 23 in theaters nationwide with a special one-time only screening of the uncensored version at the UP Cine Adarna on January 18.
