The College of the Holy Spirit of Tarlac (CHST) will be holding its Grand Alumni Homecoming on the 12th of January, 2pm at the CHST Quadrangle and Gymnasium in San Sebastian Village, Tarlac City.
With the theme “LAYAG: Ang pagbabalik 2019” the celebration will be filled with songs, dances and a special tribute to OPM music from the 60s and up to the present.
Hosting the grand event are the Silver Jubilarians, CHST High School Batch 1994 who opted for the beach and all-white theme as a reflection of the Holy Spirit’s purity and gentleness.
On the other hand, LAYAG was used in the theme to serve as a symbolism of what College of the Holy Spirit of Tarlac is to each of the alumni. Like the sails of the ship on a journey, providing direction, steering in calm waters, and balance through stormy seas.
PAGLALAYAG is also the perfect word to describe the journey back home of the alumni.
“It is a symbol of remembering our once-beloved institution, the College of the Holy Spirit of Tarlac – an institution that has molded us into becoming who we are. It is therefore a privilege and an honor to give back and pay homage to that one place where our dreams all began,” CHST Batch 1994 said in a written message.
Another symbol used by the Silver Jubilarians for the Grand Alumni Homecoming is the TSINELAS which they have included in all the invitations with the message:
“Hanapin ang kapares, Magsuot ng puti, Dalhin ang pag-ibig sa puso, Makisaya…”
Aside from it, serving as a symbol of “coming home”, the class of 1994 also sees to it that the slippers also serve another purpose and as an opportunity for each of the attending alumni to share to a worthwhile cause.
The first 1000 who pre-registered will be getting a pair for free and will have the option to donate it, particularly to senior citizens-beneficiaries carefully chosen by the organizing committee.
This year’s Grand Alumni Homecoming coincides with the College of the Holy Spirit of Tarlac’s 79th Founding Anniversary (1940-2019). A momentous event that would also highlight the school’s newly-constructed, first educational eco-building in Tarlac, a sterling addition to what makes CHST one of the best learning institutions in the region.
There will music, fun, laughter and a lot of reminiscing. A Holy Mass shall be celebrated before dinner and the program-proper. There will be a variety of booths, fun surprises and exciting raffles.
Dance numbers are expected from the Silver (94) and Golden (69) Jubilarians. A number of notable and inspiring CHST Alumni will also be recognized during the event.
